We are seeking Kazakh Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kazakh, a Turkic language spoken primarily in Kazakhstan and among Central Asian diaspora communities, is a rare but strategic language often needed in asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Kazakh ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Deliver interpretation with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter standards and confidentiality rules.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Kazakh and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred).
- Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
