You will be responsible for migrating a legacy Java-based web application to a modern React frontend by creating reusable components. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build accessible, responsive interfaces and ensure high performance standards.
At CI&T, we help large enterprises transform the potential of AI into real business impact with AI Deployment, AI-native execution, and tech-integrated business solutions.
With 30 years of experience in technological transformation, we accelerate innovation with expertise in Agentic SDLC, Application modernization, Data & AI, Martech and Business strategy.
We are 8,000 CI&Ters across more than 25 countries, collaborating to build solutions with real impact. AI is already part of how we work, evolve, and innovate every day.
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to join a CI&T squad working on a financial services client. You’ll help move an established Java-based web application onto a modern React frontend: analysing legacy pages, turning them into a well-structured component library, and building fast, accessible user interfaces. You’ll work closely with backend developers, UX/UI designers, QA and the Product Owner.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain responsive, accessible user interfaces with React and TypeScript
- Analyse legacy server-rendered pages and break them down into reusable React components
- Grow and maintain a shared component library based on shadcn/ui
- Connect the frontend to backend REST APIs: handle loading, error and empty states consistently
- Write unit and component tests with Vitest/Jest and React Testing Library
- Join refinement sessions: break features into tasks, estimate them and point out UX or technical risks
- Review pull requests and help keep frontend standards, performance and documentation in good shape
- Work with designers to turn designs into pixel-accurate, consistent interfaces
What you need (must-have)
- Around 5 years of professional frontend experience, with at least 3 years in React (hooks, context, composition patterns)
- Strong TypeScript, HTML5 and modern CSS skills
- Hands-on experience with Vite: project setup, environment configuration and build optimisation
- Experience with shadcn/ui and the tools beneath it, Tailwind CSS and Radix UI
- Solid automated testing skills with Vitest and/or Jest, ideally with React Testing Library
- Experience consuming REST APIs: authentication, error handling and pagination
- Good grounding in web accessibility (WCAG) and responsive design
- Experience with routing (e.g. React Router or TanStack Router) and form validation (e.g. Zod)
- Familiarity with linting and formatting (ESLint, Prettier), Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban)
- Good English communication skills for working with international stakeholders
Nice to have
- Storybook, for documenting and developing components in isolation
- Zustand, for client-side state management
- TanStack Query, for server state, caching and data synchronisation
- TanStack Form, for complex, type-safe forms
- Analysing legacy pages (e.g. JSP, XSLT/XML-rendered or server-side templates) and restructuring them into React components
- End-to-end testing with Playwright or Cypress
- Design systems and design tokens, and working from Figma
- Frontend performance work: Core Web Vitals, code splitting and lazy loading
- Basic understanding of Java web backends and how they serve and secure the frontend
- Experience in banking or other regulated environments
