Role Summary
The Jira Service Management & Atlassian Automation Lead serves as the primary administrator and technical authority for the Bureau of Prisons Jira Service Desk environment, responsible for system configuration, workflow engineering, plugin management, automation development, RESTbased integrations, and issue security administration. This role ensures the Jira platform is optimized, secure, compliant with DOJ/BOP requirements, and capable of supporting missioncritical service management operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Administer Jira Service Management projects, queues, roles, permissions, and issue security schemes.
• Configure and optimize workflows using Deviniti, Appfire JSU, JMWE, and native Jira automation.
• Develop Groovy scripts using ScriptRunner for automation, listeners, validators, and custom JQL functions.
• Manage Deviniti plugins (Dynamic Forms, Queues, Issue Templates, Extension) to enhance request forms and workflow logic.
• Implement Appfire tools including Surveys, JSU Automation Suite, and JMWE for workflow efficiency and reporting.
• Administer Insight Asset Management schemas, object types, imports, automation rules, and Jira issue integrations.
• Integrate Jira with external systems using REST APIs and secure authentication methods.
• Troubleshoot incidents, resolve workflow errors, optimize automation rules, and maintain plugin lifecycle compatibility.
• Provide user support, documentation, and training for Jira administrators and endusers.
• Ensure compliance with DOJ 1700.01, RFO 952.2042, and BOP security clearance requirements.
• Support 80 hours/month structured remote administration and offpeak maintenance windows.
Professional Experience Requirements
• Must have Security clearance
• Minimum 5 years administering Jira Service Management in enterprise or federal environments.
• Demonstrated expertise with Deviniti, Appfire, Adaptavist ScriptRunner, and Insight Asset Management.
• Proven experience writing Groovy scripts, REST integrations, workflow automation, and custom JQL functions.
• Experience managing permissions, roles, issue security, and complex workflow conditions/validators.
• Experience supporting Data Centerlevel Jira environments with plugin lifecycle management.
• Experience providing remote administration and structured support windows.
Educational Qualifications
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Jira Administrator Certification (preferred).
• ScriptRunner or Atlassian Advanced Admin training (preferred).
Other Requirements (from both documents)
• Must be eligible for DOJ/BOP security clearance.
• Must comply with DOJ Order 1700.01, BOP Computer Security Program Statement 1237.13, and RFO 952.2042.
• Must support offpeak work (evenings/weekends) when required.
• Must provide documentation, training materials, and incident/problem resolution records.
