Description
The Senior/Principal Infrastructure & Cloud Architect is a strategic, hands-on technology leader responsible for driving enterprise cloud architecture, infrastructure modernization, and emerging technology initiatives across complex environments. Serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, this role provides architectural direction and technical governance for cloud, hybrid-cloud, infrastructure, security, and IoT solutions that support critical business operations. The architect collaborates closely with stakeholders, engineering teams, security professionals, and business leaders to develop scalable, secure, and cost-effective technology strategies that align with organizational objectives and long-term digital transformation goals.
This position is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions, establishing infrastructure standards, and leading modernization efforts that improve operational efficiency, resiliency, and service delivery. The role requires extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure, hybrid infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), networking, security, automation, and enterprise architecture practices. In addition, the architect works closely with IoT and data teams to develop secure edge-to-cloud architectures, real-time telemetry platforms, and intelligent services that support innovation and data-driven decision making.
The Senior/Principal Infrastructure & Cloud Architect is expected to provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives, mentor engineering teams, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish best practices that ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance. Success in this role requires the ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical execution while effectively communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate possesses deep infrastructure and cloud expertise, strong leadership and collaboration skills, and a proven ability to deliver secure, enterprise-scale solutions in highly regulated and mission-critical environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud architecture, systems engineering, or related technology disciplines.
- • Minimum of 5 years of experience serving in a senior, lead, principal, or enterprise architect capacity with responsibility for large-scale technology initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including cloud infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
- Proven experience architecting and integrating cloud-based platforms with on-premises enterprise systems and applications.
- Experience developing and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, data protection, and enterprise security architecture.
- Experience designing scalable infrastructure solutions, cloud governance models, and technology standards for enterprise environments.
- Working knowledge of containerization technologies and cloud-native architecture principles.
- Experience supporting or designing Internet of Things (IoT) architectures, edge computing environments, or edge-to-cloud integration solutions.
- Ability to develop technical roadmaps, reference architectures, standards, and governance documentation.
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership, business stakeholders, security teams, and technical staff to deliver strategic technology initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor technical staff, and influence technology decisions across multiple business units.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to satisfy applicable background screening requirements.
Preferred Skills
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or other relevant AWS certifications.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and hybrid-cloud architectures.
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, FEAF, Zachman, BIAN, or similar methodologies.
- Experience designing, implementing, or governing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LangChain, Small Language Models (SLMs), or related intelligent automation solutions.
- Familiarity with MLOps, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise automation frameworks.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, container orchestration, and cloud-native application platforms.
- Knowledge of IoT security standards and frameworks, including NIST SP 800-213, IEC 62443, or similar industry standards.
- Experience implementing Zero Trust architectures and advanced cybersecurity controls in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), CJIS, HIPAA, FedRAMP, or equivalent standards.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries, including government, public sector, healthcare, financial services, or utilities.
- Experience designing real-time data pipelines, data lakes, analytics platforms, and enterprise integration solutions.
- Demonstrated success leading cloud migration, modernization, digital transformation, or infrastructure optimization initiatives.
- Prior consulting experience supporting enterprise clients, public-sector organizations, or large multi-agency environments.
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership on technology strategy, budgeting, governance, and long-term planning initiatives.
- Familiarity with State of Indiana technology standards, public-sector technology governance, or similar government technology environments.
Where You'll Work
Moser Consulting has 2 local offices in Castleton and downtown. You will be able to work a hybrid onsite schedule or work fully remote, depending on the work.
