In the last five years, re:power has trained and supported more than 10,000 organizers, candidates, campaigners, and leaders across our movement. Our alumni reflect the communities we center — 83% identify as BIPOC as do the majority of our trainers, 76% are women, 7% are trans and gender expansive, 37% are LGBTQIA, and 14% are youth (ages 18–24). Position Overview

Re:power is looking for an Infrastructure and Powerbuilding Manager who can deepen re:power’s relationships with partners in priority states to fortify movement infrastructure, strengthen organizational capacity, cultivate local leadership,  and expand sustainable pathways for learning and development towards building people power. The Infrastructure and Powerbuilding Manager  will work closely with organizational partners, movement leaders, trainers and community members to strengthen leadership pipelines, support organizational growth and sustainability, identify and develop emerging trainers, and help cultivate long-term organizing infrastructure within key geographies across the United States. This position will play a key role in helping strengthen organizing ecosystems across multiple states, with an initial focus on Michigan.

Primary Responsibilities

Partnership Management & Program Support: In collaboration with the Senior Director of Programs & Powerbuilding and the Programs  & Power Building Team: 

• Support the development and implementation of regional/state based strategies to strengthen sustainable organizing infrastructure across priority states (Michigan) and geographies. 
• Build and deepen relationships with organizational partners, movement leaders, and community stakeholders in priority states and emergent geographies. 
• Identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration, alignment, and shared learning across organizations and regional movement ecosystems. 
• Support organizations in strengthening their member engagement strategies, leadership pipelines, and long-term organizing sustainability and powerbuilding campaigns. 
• Help identify gaps, opportunities and emerging needs with local state and regional partners and support creating responsive strategies to address them. 
• Collaborate with internal re:power teams to ensure alignment between partner needs and broader organizational strategy.
• Support the implementation of long term partner collaborations in partner states. 
• Support the ongoing data collection, evaluation, iteration, and improvement of programs and learning experiences.

Leadership Development & Capacity Building: In Collaboration with the Programs & Powerbuilding team:

• Provide coaching, technical assistance, and leadership development support to organizational partners, staff, and movement leaders. 
• Support the development of member and staff leadership development pipelines within partner organizations. 
• Help recruit and support participants for re:power programs, trainings, and national convenings, including our biannual Camp re:power. 
• Identify and support the development of localized training benches and leadership infrastructure that can support long term organizing efforts within priority states and emergent geographies. 
• Foster spaces for learning, reflection, growth and skill-building rooted in re:power values and movement sustainability. 

Participant Experience & Learning Environment Design: In collaboration with the Programs & Powerbuilding Team and Training Director: 

• Ensure all trainings and learning spaces are participant centered, inclusive, accessible, and grounded in values aligned facilitation practices. 
• Design learning environments that support engagement, belonging, curiosity, and collective care and accountability. 
• Integrate healing centered, relational, and trauma informed approaches into training design and facilitation approach. 
• Support systems and practices for participant feedback, reflection, and continuous improvement. 
• Help cultivate learning spaces where people across differences can build trust, deepen skills, and move toward shared goals together. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics. It’s okay if you don’t meet every single requirement!

• 3-5+ years demonstrated experience in community organizing, movement building, civic engagement, or related social justice campaigns. 
• 3-5+ years experience supporting leadership development, basebuilding, member engagement or organizational capacity building efforts. 
• Strong relationship-building skills and the proven ability to cultivate trust across diverse communities, organizations and stakeholders.
• Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to think strategically while also managing multiple projects, shifting priorities, and evolving partner needs.
• Detail oriented with excellent project management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, racial justice, healing, and collective liberation. 
• Ability to navigate complexity with emotional intelligence, flexibility, and care.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Willingness to travel regularly within designated regions and for national gatherings/programs. 

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary for this position ranges from $68,000 - $83,000  with new staff typically coming in at the middle of this range. In an effort to counter pay inequality, the Infrastructure and Powerbuilding Manager (Midwest) starting salary is nonnegotiable and benchmarked to competitive markets in the nonprofit sector. re:power offers a comprehensive benefits package with excellent health/life/disability insurance, including these and other employment-related benefits:
