VersaTech is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure security requirements for major applications and general support systems are implemented and maintained in accordance with federal standards. This is a fully remote position, and candidates must have experience working in a federal environment. The successful candidate will manage the security authorization process for computer systems, ensuring all requests are completed in compliance with established procedures. This role also requires effective communication and collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership across the organization.
 
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 depending on experience. Discretionary annual bonus based on performance.
 
Location: This position is fully remote. 
 
ISSO Essential Duties
  • Maintain an inventory of hardware and software
  • Coordinate the development of a Contingency Plan and ensure that the plan is tested and maintained
  • Demonstrated experience writing information system security documentation
  • Strong knowledge and experience with information security standards, policies and practices - NIST (800-53 rev4 and rev5), FISMA
  • Knowledge of Privacy Threshold assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments, and Privacy Continuous Monitoring Assessments
  • Knowledge of CSAM management
  • Advanced knowledge of Disaster Recovery Plans/COOP, facilitation of ISCP Testing and exercises
  • Strong knowledge of 800-53 rev4 and rev5
  • Strong knowledge of ISSO duties (SSPs, POAM management, vulnerability management)
 
Requirements:
 
  • 5+ years of information security experience. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred. Two years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • Hands-on experience supporting AWS environments
  • Experience supporting High Baseline federal information systems
  • Strong knowledge of information security engineering principles, architecture, and security design
  • Recent experience supporting a federal government customer
  • Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and continuous monitoring processes
  • Demonstrated ability to assess information security and system risks in complex environments and communicate findings to technical and executive stakeholders
  • Experience using vulnerability assessment tools such as Nessus and interpreting assessment results
  • Excellent written communication skills, including preparing documentation for senior leadership
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active CISSP, CAP, Security+, or other relevant cybersecurity certification
  • Experience supporting federal Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities and RMF documentation
  • Experience with eMASS, Xacta, or other federal governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools
 
Clearance:  Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
