About the Position:
The Sr. Manager of Medical Logistics is responsible for the strategic leadership, execution, and oversight of enterprise-level medical logistics operations supporting DoD medical readiness missions. This role ensures full lifecycle management of Class VIII medical materiel while leveraging Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) as the authoritative system for inventory, equipment, and asset management.
The Sr. Manager provides leadership across supply chain operations, readiness reporting, contingency support, and compliance with FAR/DFARS, and DHA MEDLOG guidance, ensuring mission readiness across CONUS and OCONUS operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Medical Logistics Leadership
Direct enterprise-wide medical materiel management programs supporting operational, contingency, and garrison environments
Lead planning, execution, and sustainment of WRM, APS, ECMM, and deployable medical assemblages
Provide executive-level oversight for medical logistics readiness, posture, and risk mitigation
Advise senior leadership on logistics strategy, funding requirements, and mission readiness impacts
Enterprise MEDLOG organizations are tasked with integrating and delivering medical materiel, equipment, and services across military operations.
2. DMLSS Program Oversight & System Management
Serve as the senior authority for DMLSS/LogiCole operations and compliance
Ensure all logistics functions (inventory, procurement, equipment, maintenance, assemblage management) are executed within DMLSS modules
Oversee system implementation, sustainment, data integrity, and user training programs
Drive integration between DMLSS and other systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, DPAS, TEWLS)
DMLSS is the DoD’s authoritative system supporting inventory, equipment, ordering, and materiel lifecycle management.
3. Supply Chain & Inventory Management
Oversee procurement, receipt, storage, QA/QC, and distribution of medical materiel across multiple locations
Maintain accountability and visibility of multi-million-dollar inventories and assets
Ensure compliance with allowance standards, ASLs, SKOs, and LIN equipment management
Direct inventory operations, including cyclic inventories, audits, and reconciliation processes
Your internal programs demonstrate inventory management of large-scale medical supply lines and multi-site warehouse operations using DMLSS.
4. Operational & Deployment Readiness
Ensure medical assemblages are maintained in a high state of readiness for deployment (FAST, WRM, contingency packages)
Direct logistics support for humanitarian missions, contingency operations, and surge requirements
Oversee packaging, shipment, reconstitution, and lifecycle sustainment of deployable assets
Programs require rapid deployment capability and readiness of medical assemblages within defined timelines (e.g., 4–24 hours).
5. Compliance, Policy, and Governance
Ensure adherence to DoD, DHA, Army, and contract-specific requirements (PWS, ISO, QA standards)
Oversee development and enforcement of SOPs, policies, and internal controls for MEDLOG operations
Ensure compliance with medical materiel accountability, safety, HAZMAT, and shelf-life programs (SLEP)
6. Financial, Contract, and Vendor Management
Manage program budgets, cost controls, and forecasting for medical logistics operations
Oversee vendor relationships, procurement strategies, and contract performance
Identify funding gaps, cost savings, and efficiencies across the supply chain
7. Leadership & Workforce Development
Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams of logisticians, warehouse personnel, and analysts
Provide training and mentorship on DMLSS, supply chain operations, and medical readiness processes
Establish performance metrics and ensure workforce readiness aligned with mission requirements
8. Reporting, Analytics, and Continuous Improvement
Provide executive reporting on inventory levels, readiness status, KPIs, and operational performance
Utilize DMLSS reporting tools and business intelligence to support decision-making
Lead continuous process improvement initiatives across logistics operations
Minimum RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
12–15+ years of progressive medical logistics experience (DoD/Army preferred)
5+ years in senior leadership roles managing large-scale logistics programs
Demonstrated experience with DMLSS/LogiCole and other DoD logistics systems
Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) or equivalent
Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or DAWIA Certification
Core Competencies
Expert knowledge of DoD medical logistics policies and lifecycle management
Advanced proficiency in DMLSS modules (Inventory, Equipment, Assemblage, Maintenance)
Strong understanding of Class VIII supply chains and medical readiness requirements
Ability to manage global logistics operations in dynamic and contingency environments
Executive-level leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Clearance Requirement
Active Secret (or higher) security clearance required
