Job Description

Version 1 is growing its global operations and looking for a Head of People Operations to lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of people operations across all regions. This role sits at the heart of how we support our employees throughout their entire lifecycle, from onboarding through to offboarding, and everything in between.

You will own the operational backbone of our People function, driving standardisation, efficiency, and quality across people processes globally. Working closely with local People teams, Centres of Excellence, and senior leadership, you will ensure our people operations scale effectively as the business grows. You will manage and develop a team, setting clear standards and fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on building structure, improving how things work, and making a measurable difference to employee experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the People Operations team, setting priorities, reviewing outputs, and supporting professional development across the team.
  • Own and continuously improve global people operations processes covering the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, contracts, changes, transfers, offboarding, and associated documentation.
  • Drive standardisation of people processes across all regions, ensuring consistency whilst accommodating local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, and other Centres of Excellence to deliver joined-up people services.
  • Establish and maintain service level standards for people operations, tracking performance through clear metrics and reporting.
  • Oversee people data integrity across HR systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting to senior leadership.
  • Lead the design and delivery of people operations reporting, dashboards, and analytics to support data-driven decision making.
  • Identify and implement process automation and technology improvements, including increased use of AI and self-service tools.
  • Ensure compliance with local employment legislation, data protection regulations, and internal policies across all operating regions.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, including acquisitions and integrations, ensuring smooth transitions for employees.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex employee queries and operational issues, working to resolve them promptly and fairly.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee-related transactions.
  • Contribute to broader People team strategy and planning, bringing an operational perspective to strategic discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CIPD or equivalent HR qualification is desirable.
  • 8+ years of experience in HR or People Operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team.
  • Proven track record of designing and scaling people operations processes in a multi-country or global organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation across multiple jurisdictions, particularly India, UK, and Ireland.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (knowledge of Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar would be an advantage).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-growth or Private Equity backed environment.
  • Data-literate with experience using people analytics and reporting tools.
  • Team player with a strong drive for service excellence and continuous improvement.
