About the Role:
LEWIS CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, INC is seeking a highly qualified 1099 Contractor to serve as a Grant Screener, Writer, and Manager for our Lewis Chapel Legacy Academy in Fayetteville, NC. This multifaceted role is critical to the Academy's funding strategy and operational growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying high-value funding opportunities, developing competitive grant proposals, and overseeing the comprehensive management of awarded funds. This position reports directly to the Academy Director and requires a proactive approach to the full grant life cycle. All compensation is subject to final approval by LCMBC, contractor has no control over any funds awarded and will not take custody of any money awarded.
Responsibilities:
Grant Screening & Research
- Conduct thorough research to identify new grant opportunities aligned with the Academy's mission and programs.
- Vet prospective opportunities for eligibility, feasibility, and strategic alignment.
- Provide comprehensive summaries of funding priorities, deadlines, and mandatory requirements.
- Deliver data-driven recommendations and estimate the potential impact on the operating budget.
Grant Writing & Proposal Development
- Develop and draft compelling grant narratives, detailed budgets, and necessary supporting documentation.
- Ensure all applications strictly adhere to funder guidelines and formatting standards.
- Coordinate with Academy leadership to gather program data and organizational metrics.
- Manage the timely submission of al application packages before established deadlines.
- Maintain a consistent and professional voice that reflects the Academy's core values.
Grant Management & Compliance
- Oversee the end-to-end management of the grant process for all active pursuits.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for further inquiries and requests for clarification.
- Monitor award status and ensure prompt internal communication regarding notifications.
- Manage post-award compliance, including reporting, documentation, and impact assessment.
- Ensure the Academy Director is regularly informed of progress and milestones.
- Maintain meticulous records to support audits and future renewal applications.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- 3-5 years of proven experience in grant writing and management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with grant application processes and funding sources.
- Experience in nonprofit or community-focused organizations is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Passion for community service and supporting the church's mission.
