Work that matters

This role contributes to the Future Energy Exports CRC project within the Industrial AI Research Centre by advancing interoperable approaches to process control and Digital Twins for H2 production processes at the Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub facility. Your work will support the development of virtual representations of H2 production systems and processes that interact with interoperable digital interfaces, providing reusable, maintainable, and scalable components for industrial systems.

You will help deliver robust, scalable solutions that that enhance real-time monitoring, simulation, and optimisation of critical processes for organisations in the process industries.

The team

This role sits within a collaborative research team of the Industrial AI Research Centre working on the Future Energy Exports CRC project, focused on interoperable industrial systems and Digital Twins. The team develops and applies standards-based methods to integrate complex industrial systems and achieve operational goals.

Working closely with academic colleagues and industry partners, the team focuses on extending interoperability for Digital Twins in process control and implementing prototype solutions for piloting in real-world industrial environments.

Experience

To thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:

  • A recent PhD graduate in computer science, engineering control systems, Digital Twins, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Digital Twin modelling and implementation for industrial processes, or similar.
  • Experience with implementing industrial monitoring, management, and control systems or industrial interoperability and integration solutions.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex systems and develop practical solutions to challenges such as interoperability and real-time Digital Twin requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to extend and adapt existing methodologies to new industrial applications.
  • Experience in implementing or prototyping technical solutions, with an understanding of how to translate research outcomes into real-world industry environments.
