Position Summary:

We are seeking a Government Accounts Director to lead government payer strategy and engagement across public-sector channels. Reporting to the Executive Director, Payer Access, this leader will play a critical role in preparing for retina pipeline access needs while supporting the company’s marketed ophthalmology portfolio.

The ideal candidate brings deep government access expertise, strong executive presence, and a practical understanding of Medicare Part B, MAC policy, VA/DoD systems, Medicaid, coding, coverage, and provider-administered product reimbursement. This individual will operate as a strategic partner across functions and a trusted external representative with public-sector payer stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and execute government account strategies for AXPAXLI/OTX-TKI, DEXTENZA, and future Ocular assets.
  • Engage with MACs, VA, DoD/DHA, Medicaid, and government-affiliated payers to support access, reimbursement, policy, and launch-readiness objectives.
  • Monitor and interpret policy, coverage, coding, payment, formulary, and utilization-management trends.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align evidence, messaging, field execution, and compliant engagement plans.
  • Translate payer insights into recommendations that support launch planning, account prioritization, and patient access.
  • Represent the voice of government payers in internal planning forums and executive updates.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical, medical device, market access, reimbursement, government accounts, payer strategy, or commercial experience.
  • Deep knowledge of Medicare Part B, MAC coverage processes, VA/DoD access, Medicaid policy, buy-and-bill reimbursement, coding, and coverage strategy.
  • Experience in ophthalmology, retina, specialty pharmacy, medical benefit, or provider-administered products preferred.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influence complex access decisions in a compliant manner.
  • Strong communication, strategic planning, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

Salary Range
$250,000$300,000 USD
