Purpose:

The Marketing Technology Technical Lead (aka Global Lead Engineer) is responsible for defining, governing, and evolving the organization's Marketing Technology (MarTech) architecture and technical ecosystem, ensuring scalability, security, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives across multiple markets.

The role serves as the technical authority for Adobe Campaign Classic, Google Marketing Platform, and related marketing and customer engagement technologies within Mashreq Retail Banking Group; and provides architectural leadership across customer data, campaign orchestration, analytics, integrations, and activation capabilities. Working closely with Marketing, Data, Analytics, Technology, Security, Compliance, and external partners.

The Marketing Technology Technical Lead translates business requirements into scalable technical solutions, establishes engineering standards and governance, and leads the successful delivery of MarTech initiatives. The role combines strategic architecture ownership with hands-on technical expertise, including solution design, integration oversight, code review, troubleshooting, and development support where required.

The position is accountable for ensuring that the MarTech landscape remains future-ready, globally scalable, operationally resilient, and capable of supporting the organization's customer engagement, personalization, and digital transformation ambitions.

 

Key Result Areas:

  1. MarTech Architecture & Technology Strategy: Establish and maintain a scalable, secure, and future-proof MarTech architecture aligned with business and customer engagement objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the MarTech target architecture, technology roadmap, and integration strategy.
  • Drive architecture decisions, platform evolution, and technical standards across the MarTech ecosystem.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, platform capabilities, and build-vs.-buy options.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and data governance standards.
  • Develop reference architectures, solution blueprints, and architectural best practices.

 

  1. Technical Platform Ownership & Technical Leadership: Ensure stable, efficient, and high-performing operation of Adobe Campaign Classic, Google Marketing Platform, and associated MarTech platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical health, performance, and configuration of MarTech platforms.
  • Establish platform governance, release management, deployment processes, and operational standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical platform incidents and performance issues.
  • Drive continuous platform optimization and technical debt reduction.
  • Define and monitor platform KPIs, operational metrics, and service levels.

 

  1. Solution Design & Engineering Excellence: Deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions that support business requirements and marketing technology journeys.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business and marketing requirements into technical solution designs and engineering specifications.
  • Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, integration designs, data models, data flow documentation and solution design documents.
  • Lead technical design reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and support development activities where required.
  • Review and validate workflows, schemas, integrations, custom code, and technical deliverables.

     

     

  1. Data, Integration & Customer Technology Ecosystem: Ensure seamless integration and reliable data exchange across the MarTech ecosystem.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and govern integration patterns between MarTech platforms and enterprise systems.
  • Oversee API, event-driven, batch, and real-time integrations.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, availability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Design scalable customer data flows supporting segmentation, personalization, analytics, and activation.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and enterprise architecture teams to optimize customer data architecture.

     

     

  1. Engineering Leadership & Delivery Governance: Ensure high-quality technical delivery across internal teams and implementation partners.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to engineers, developers, and implementation partners.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical estimation, and solution reviews.
  • Establish coding standards, development practices, quality assurance processes, and release controls.
  • Support production deployments and post-release stabilization activities.
  • Ensure technical risks, dependencies and delivery challenges are proactively managed.

     

     

  1. Stakeholder Management & Business Alignment: Align MarTech investments and solutions with business objectives and customer needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Marketing, Analytics, Data, Technology, Security, and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advisory and architecture recommendations to senior management.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly recommendations.
  • Support business case development and ROI assessments for MarTech initiatives.
  • Balance local market requirements with global platform standards and scalability objectives.

     

     

  1. Team Development & Capability Building: Build sustainable technical capability within the MarTech organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and coach engineers and technical specialists.
  • Promote engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive knowledge sharing, documentation, and technical enablement initiatives.
  • Support workforce planning and capability development for future technology needs.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Digital Banking or Digital Transformation programs.
  • 7+ years of experience in MarTech, CRM, CDP, customer engagement, and digital marketing technologies, delivering large-scale enterprise programs.
  • Demonstrable hands-on technical experience with Adobe Campaign, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or equivalent enterprise marketing automation and digital analytics platforms.
  • Proven experience defining and executing MarTech technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives, security, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Strong expertise in MarTech platform evaluation, technology selection, build-vs-buy assessments, and ecosystem optimization.
  • Hands-on experience designing scalable, enterprise-grade architectures and integrating MarTech platforms with customer data, analytics, digital channels and core business systems.
  • Strong technical and engineering background with hands-on experience in:
    • SQL and data modelling
    • JavaScript and scripting
    • API integrations (REST/SOAP)
    • ETL, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration
    • XML and ACC/XTK developments
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)
    • Data warehousing and customer data platforms
    • Event-driven architectures and real-time integrations
    • Serverless and cloud-native integration services
  • Proven ability to design and communicate solution architectures, integration patterns, data flows, and technical blueprints to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing the technical operation of enterprise MarTech platforms, including release management, environment management, monitoring, performance optimization and incident resolution.
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance, security controls, and best practices across the MarTech ecosystem.
  • Experience leading engineers, development teams, system integrators, and technology vendors to deliver complex technology solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across Marketing, Data, Analytics, Technology, Security, Compliance, and Business functions.
  • Experience delivering regional or global MarTech programs while balancing local market requirements with enterprise standards and scalability objectives.
  • Good understanding of customer data management, privacy regulations, consent management, and information security principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technology investments, identify optimization opportunities, and drive measurable business value.
