Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology and Assistant Clinical Director of MFT

Location: 100% Remote (US) | Appointment: Full-Time, 12-Month, Non-Tenure Track

The School of Health & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Global invites applications for a dynamic, mission-driven faculty member to join our fully remote academic community beginning August 2026. This full-time appointment is expected at the Assistant Professor level, with the possibility of appointment at the Associate Professor rank commensurate with experience.

General Responsibilities for this position: 

In alignment with the University of Massachusetts Global Faculty Manual and the expectations of the School of Health & Behavioral Sciences, the faculty member will engage in curriculum development, service, mentoring, teaching, clinical training support, and other professional contributions that support the mission of the University. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop, maintain, assess, and teach online courses within the Psychology program (including MFT related coursework), ensuring alignment with program outcomes and accreditation and professional standards
• Mentor and support students, adjunct faculty, staff, and other program stakeholders to promote student success and program quality
• Engage actively in clinical training processes, including supporting students in securing, navigating, and successfully completing practicum and/or internship placements in collaboration with community partners and clinical sites
• Assist in the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of practicum/internship experiences to ensure alignment with program requirements, clinical competencies, and applicable licensure-track expectations.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with community mental health agencies, clinics, and other practicum sites to expand and sustain high-quality training opportunities
• Participate in service to the discipline, profession, and institution, including committee work, assessment activities, and community engagement, both internally and externally
• Demonstrate professional and collegial conduct that fosters mutual respect, trust, transparent communication, and appropriate confidentiality with faculty, staff, and university leadership
• Contribute to ongoing program development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned in collaboration with the Dean, consistent with faculty role expectations outlined in the Faculty Manual

Required qualifications: 

• Earned Doctorate (PhD, PsyD, or closely related field) in Psychology or a related discipline from an accredited institution; ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion by start date.

• Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field (as applicable to program needs).
• Minimum of two (2) years of post-master’s professional clinical experience in a mental health or related practice setting.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical training environments, including supervision, coordination, or instruction in practicum and/or internship settings.
• Demonstrated ability to support students in securing and successfully completing clinical placements, including collaboration with external agencies and site supervisors.
• Experience teaching in higher education, preferably in online asynchronous modalities.
• Commitment to student-centered teaching and supporting a diverse adult learner population.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering current, market-relevant, and engaging curriculum, assessments, and learning activities in an online-first LMS. 

• Experience applying data-informed approaches to enhance student success and retention. 

• Ability to engage collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external clinical partners. 

• Committed to cultivating a workplace culture grounded in respect, openness, and constructive dialogue. 

Preferred qualifications: 

• Licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LMFT, LPC, LPCC, Psychologist, or equivalent, depending on discipline)
• Experience serving in a clinical training leadership role (e.g., Director of Clinical Training, Practicum Coordinator, Internship Director, or Assistant Director role)
• Demonstrated success developing and maintaining community partnerships for clinical training placements
• Familiarity with competency-based education and clinical training standards relevant to psychology and/or MFT education
• Experience supporting program accreditation or regulatory alignment (e.g., COAMFTE, regional accreditation, or state licensure board requirements, as applicable)
• Evidence of scholarly, professional, or community engagement activities
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting adjunct faculty in an online program environment.

The hiring range for this position is $81,345-$88,522 annually. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
