Responsibilities

About the Role

The First Party MedPay/PIP Injury Adjuster provides claims support to policyholders by investigating and resolving medical bills related to first-party injury claims. This role applies knowledge of insurance coverages, policy provisions, and claims handling procedures to ensure accurate, timely, and customer-focused claim resolution.

The adjuster partners with internal teams and external vendors to facilitate the claims process, support business objectives, and deliver high-quality service across multiple communication channels. This position requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills while effectively utilizing technology and claims management tools.

In this role you will:

  • Provide claims service via various channels to policyholders and third-party customers
  • Investigate and resolve medical bills associated with first party injuries
  • Acquire and apply basic knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance industry products, services, and processes to include P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages and the General Motors Insurance claims handling processes and procedures
  • Partner with and/or directs vendors and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution
  • Contribute to business goals, performance metrics, and effectively uses tools & technology

Qualifications

  • Experience in an inbound phone-intensive, contact center environment using a headset
  • Knowledge of how to build lasting relationships with internal and external customers and business partners
  • Computer literacy in a Windows operation environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to implement and adapt to rapid change
  • Creative, innovative and forward-thinking mindset
  • Able to navigate and work in multiple systems simultaneously

 

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:  

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection 

 

Work Experience & Education

  • 2+ years of auto claims adjusting experience required
  • 2+ years of customer service experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Current experience in the following states is strongly preferred: TX, IL, GA, OH, AZ, IN and CA; this role will support multiple states.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Insurance Adjuster License required

The base range for this role is: $52,000-$96,000 USD

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
