Position Summary
The Field Services Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality execution of wind turbine maintenance and service activities, with a primary focus on Siemens Gamesa wind turbine platforms. This position provides hands-on field leadership to wind turbine technicians performing scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, component replacement, inspections, and other field service activities.
The Field Services Supervisor serves as the primary field leader for assigned crews and is responsible for daily work planning, safety execution, productivity, technical quality, documentation, and coordination with customers, site leadership, and project management.
Siemens Gamesa Turbine Maintenance
- Supervise and, when necessary, assist with planned and unplanned maintenance on Siemens Gamesa wind turbine platforms.
- Support troubleshooting and diagnosis of Siemens Gamesa wind turbine faults involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, control, and communication systems.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, repairs, and component replacement activities.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable Siemens Gamesa/OEM procedures, technical documentation, customer requirements, and company standards.
- Coordinate escalation of complex technical issues.
- Verify proper completion of maintenance procedures and required post-maintenance testing before returning equipment to service.
- Support major corrective work and component repair/replacement campaigns as required.
Safety & Quality
- Maintain a strong field safety culture and ensure compliance with company, customer, OEM, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Enforce requirements associated with working at heights, fall protection, electrical safety, LOTO, confined spaces, lifting/rigging, rescue, and other wind-specific hazards.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions, behaviors, or deviations from approved procedures are identified.
- Participate in incident investigations, near-miss reviews, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
- Verify that technicians possess required training, certifications, qualifications, and task-specific authorization before assigning work.
- Conduct field observations and quality inspections to ensure work is performed correctly the first time.
- Identify and communicate equipment conditions that may affect turbine reliability, availability, or safe operation.
Planning & Execution
- Review upcoming maintenance schedules and determine manpower, tooling, equipment, materials, and logistical requirements.
- Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of field crews.
- Track work progress against schedule and communicate delays, technical issues, material shortages, weather impacts, and other execution risks.
Customer & Project Coordination
- Serve as a field-level point of contact with customer site representatives.
- Provide clear daily updates regarding work completed, turbines returned to service, open issues, safety concerns, and upcoming activities.
- Maintain professional working relationships with customers, OEM representatives, technicians, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings, planning calls, outage/service reviews, and project closeout activities as required.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of service reports, maintenance records, inspection documentation, timekeeping, parts usage, and other required field documentation.
- Review technician work packages and service reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Document turbine faults, repairs performed, parts replaced, testing completed, and outstanding technical issues.
- Maintain accurate records of crew activities, turbine status, downtime, and work completion.
- Support project closeout documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade education preferred.
- 5+ years of wind turbine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, or repair experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Siemens Gamesa/Siemens/Gamesa wind turbine platforms (SG129, SG145, Siemens 2.3, Bonus 1.3, G87, SGTT -Siemens Gamesa Technical Training)
- Direct experience with one or more Siemens Gamesa turbine platforms, including SGRE (Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy) geared and/or Direct Drive technology.
- Siemens Gamesa platform-specific service and/or troubleshooting training.
- Experience with SGRE diagnostic, SCADA, service, or maintenance systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field crews in safety-sensitive environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, service bulletins, and OEM work instructions.
- Strong communication, planning, documentation, and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Ability to travel extensively and work at wind farm locations throughout the United States.

- GWO training
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
- NFPA 70E/electrical safety training.
- LOTO qualification.

- Tower rescue and working-at-heights certification.
- Rigging and signaling experience.
- Experience supervising major corrective maintenance or component replacement work.
- Experience leading traveling maintenance/service crews across multiple wind sites.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to climb wind turbine towers and work at heights of approximately 300 feet or greater.
- Ability to work inside nacelles, hubs, towers, and other confined or restricted work areas.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools and equipment as required by the position.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, wind conditions, and weather.
- Ability to wear required PPE and fall-protection equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and modified schedules based on customer and project requirements.
- Extensive travel required; 75–100% travel may be required depending on project assignments.
