The Estimator is responsible for reviewing architectural and electrical plans to perform detailed material takeoffs for commercial security and low-voltage projects. They will build preliminary estimates, identify scope gaps, and ensure accuracy through final quality-control reviews.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to support the preparation of estimates for commercial security and low-voltage projects across the United States. The ideal candidate should be comfortable applying sound judgment to interpret plans and determine the materials and equipment required for each project. This role requires strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and missing information.

Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, electrical, and construction plans and specifications to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed material and equipment takeoffs from project plans.
- Identify scope related to:
- Security cameras / CCTV
- Access control systems
- Low-voltage wiring and infrastructure
- Structured cabling
- Related security equipment and components (gates, fencing, burglar alarm, other security means)
- Determine appropriate materials, equipment, and quantities based on project plans and company estimating standards.
- Build preliminary project estimates based on completed takeoffs.
- Research and incorporate material costs, equipment requirements, and applicable pricing.
- Review plans to identify camera locations, including building entrances, exits, and other areas requiring security coverage.
- Identify access-control requirements, door locations, and associated equipment.
- Review estimates for completeness, accuracy, and potential scope gaps.
- Perform a final quality-control review before estimates are submitted.
- Communicate with the estimating and project teams regarding questions, discrepancies, and plan details that require clarification.
- Follow established company estimating procedures, standards, and pricing parameters.
- Continuously improve estimating accuracy and efficiency as familiarity with company systems, processes, and pricing increases.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in construction estimating, with the ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical drawings.
- Experience performing construction takeoffs and preparing project estimates.
- Strong understanding of construction plans and documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Ability to identify missing information and make logical estimating decisions based on available plans.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently after training.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment.
Highly Preferred
- Low Voltage Estimating experience – strongest preference.
- Electrical Estimating or General/New Construction Estimating experience.
- Experience estimating US-based construction projects and familiarity with US construction plans and estimating practices.
- Experience with security cameras/CCTV, access control, low-voltage systems, or structured cabling.
- Experience with commercial security systems, camera placement, and access-control requirements.
- Experience performing material takeoffs and reviewing commercial building plans.
- Experience with Service Fusion or similar estimating/takeoff software is a plus, but not required; training will be provided.
