Engineering Technician

position summary

Merjent, Inc. is looking for a driven Engineering Technician to join our growing team. You will partner with engineers and project managers to develop plans, specifications, CAD drawings, and design documentation for projects spanning multi disciplines. This role is hands-on and impactful, supporting project delivery by tackling engineering tasks and helping navigate challenges along the way.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible opportunity that can be based anywhere in the US. The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $114,200 and $161,900 annually, depending upon qualifications and experience. This position is also bonus eligible.

This position may require occasional travel based on project needs.

responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and development of engineering designs, construction plans, specifications, and technical reports for multidisciplinary projects.
• Independently develop and oversee both simple and complex designs, exhibits, & details.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide oversight to support the engineering team.
• Use computer-aided design (AutoCAD) software to develop and modify technical drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support separate services and innovative initiatives.
• Identify project risks, design conflicts, and constructability concerns and proactively develop recommendations for resolution.
• May require some limited field time as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

qualifications and experience

• Degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience. Civil design experience preferred.
• Previous experience or training with Autodesk Civil 3D CAD software and GIS (ArcMap).
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write descriptive and technically accurate specifications and reports.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
