Compensation:
Effective September 1, 2025 - $36.03 per nominal hour
Effective September 1, 2026 - $37.11 per nominal hour
The above rates do not include vacation pay. Vacation pay shall be in accordance with Article 16.02.

Duties:
- As per standing instructor positions at Brock, instructors are responsible for student contact time and non-contact time:
- Contact time includes all classes as scheduled including in-person, blended, online or other teaching formats. Non-contact time may include preparation of course material, student consultation, marking or grading, holding office hours, managing and meeting with teaching assistants or marker/graders, and course administration as may be required
- Use of a provided Brock email address for all Brock-related communications
- Complete the compulsory Brock instructor online tutorial prior to the first class (1 hour).
- Attend Bachelor of ECE program meetings (typically two virtual meetings per term)
- Commitment to responsible time management (e.g. course structuring and management, punctuality for course material posting, student feedback)
- Thoughtful and careful preparation of student assessment; prompt and accurate marking and grading
- Available for student support (e.g., individual meetings, office hours—1.5 hours per week)
Course Specific Qualifications:
1. Advanced knowledge of research methodologies in social sciences
2. Deep understanding of the ECE sector, including professional expectations and systemic challenges
3. Experience mentoring undergraduate students in a research context
B.ECE Instructor Qualifications:
1. Graduate degree (Master’s, PhD or ABD) in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum Studies, Psychology, related discipline, or Ph.D. equivalency for Indigenous knowledge
2. Post-secondary teaching experience in early childhood education or related subject (face-to-face and/or online teaching modes)
3. Experience working with children (birth to 8 years) in early childhood education and care (e.g., child care, pre-school, kindergarten, before and/or after school care) or related setting (e.g., child and family services, recreation/leisure, hospital).
4. Advanced digital skills (e.g., Microsoft 365 suite, academic search engines, digital platforms)
5. Skills related to incorporation of digital pedagogy, curation of materials and resources for asynchronous learning
6. Experience and competence in Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Brightspace/D2L).
7. Ability to work independently without immediate direct supervision
8. Team member, able to work well with others toward a common goal
