eCRM & Marketing Automation Manager (Remote | $2,000–$2,500/month)

Customer data platform, engagement platform, and eCRM

The role

Jack Westin helps pre med students get into medical school through MCAT courses, tutoring, and admissions consulting. Our students take weeks or months to decide, which makes eCRM one of our highest leverage channels.

You will own our messaging stack end to end: the customer data platform feeding it, the engagement platform on top, the journeys inside it, and the deliverability protecting all of it. Your first major project is migrating us from a hosted email platform onto an in-house engine built on n8n and AWS SES. The roadmap is already defined; you own the delivery and are expected to challenge it where it is wrong.

This is hands-on. You build the journeys yourself and write your own segmentation queries.

What you will own
  • eCRM and lifecycle messaging end to end: orchestration, templates, triggers, event handling, QA on every send.
  • The migration onto n8n and AWS SES: journey state model, parallel running, parity testing, cutover behind quality gates.
  • Journeys across onboarding, abandoned cart, abandoned session, reactivation and retention, including branching logic, wait states, exit conditions and holdout groups.
  • Governance: frequency caps, quiet hours and timezone handling, journey collision rules, preference centre, sunset policy.
  • CDP connections to the warehouse and downstream tools, plus tracking plans, event taxonomy and identity resolution.
  • Segmentation and audience building against the warehouse.
  • Deliverability: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, domain warm up, suppression integrity, bounce and complaint handling, inbox placement.
  • Dashboards, A/B and holdout testing, weekly eCRM reporting, and documentation of every journey and system you own.

You must have
  • 4 to 6 years in CRM, eCRM, lifecycle, retention or marketing automation, in B2C or subscription.
  • Hands-on ownership of an engagement or automation platform. We use n8n and AWS SES, but weight transferable depth above our tools: Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Marketo or comparable.
  • Multi step journeys you built yourself that ran reliably without you touching them.
  • CDP experience at the schema and pipeline level, not just the interface. RudderStack, Segment, mParticle or similar.
  • Deliverability fluency and SQL strong enough to build your own segments.
  • Comfort with APIs and webhooks: reading JSON, configuring an HTTP request, debugging a payload, working from API docs unaided.
Good to have

Migrated off a hosted email platform before. AWS SES and SNS. n8n, Make or Zapier. Firebase Cloud Messaging. Metabase or Looker. Education or subscription products.
