Position Summary: The Donor Data and Prospecting Specialist will use data analysis, research and management skills to support fundraising efforts by maintaining the department’s donor database, qualifying prospects and developing profiles, identifying trends, and generating reports to optimize campaigns and donor engagement. The ideal candidate will manage competing priorities while tracking high volumes of data. This is a full-time exempt position.


Key Duties / Responsibilities:

Donor Data Management

  • Partner with Development, Finance, Marketing, and Programs teams to meet cross-functional data, record-keeping, and audit needs.
  • Provide a broad range of data, analysis and information services in support of the Development team. 
  • Accurately enter, maintain, and retrieve data from database and other sources to sort and organize for more detailed analysis. Create queries and special reports to help with donor engagement and retention.
  • Develop and maintain a quality control process for regularly reviewing and auditing data, and related systems and processes. Oversee coding of gifts, reconcile daily, and maintain codes for campaigns, appeals, sources.
  • Provide support with gift processing and acknowledgment, data entry, and data maintenance. 
  • Provide guidance and training for staff on using the CRM effectively and efficiently. Develop manuals and provide troubleshooting support.
  • Maintain data privacy and security protocols in line with industry standards and relevant laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).


Prospect Research

  • Collaborate with the Development team to qualify prospects and develop cultivation and engagement strategies using a prospect tracking system to monitor progress and ensure adequate follow-up.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to identify new individual, foundation, and corporate donor prospects, with a focus on expanding CPE's donor base.
  • Conduct thorough research on potential donors, including wealth screening, philanthropic interests, and giving capacity. Utilizing online databases, public records, and other resources to gather relevant information.
  • Analyze prospect data to prioritize and segment potential donors based on factors such as giving capacity and history, alignment with CPE's mission and programs, engagement level with the organization, connections to current donors or board members.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software 
  • Experience with Salesforce or a donor management software is desired, but not required
  • Familiarity with donor research methods and tools
  • Willingness to take initiative, help problem-solve, and work cross-functionally across departments to support short-term and long-term organizational goals
  • Strong attention to detail, including a drive to identify the source of data errors and their solutions
  • Knowledge of best practices related to prospect research, constituent records management, data entry, and gift processing is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience providing high-level customer service is desired
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) 
  • Experience working in a remote environment is preferred

Compensation:

Range: $77,400-$89,010. The base salary for this position will vary based on place of residence and job-related criteria, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience, among other factors.
