What is This Position About?
This position is an early-career capture role designed to develop strong federal acquisition, contracting, and capture strategy expertise over time. An Associate Capture Strategist is responsible for supporting the development and execution of federal growth strategies for clients looking to grow their innovative technology within the Department of War (DoW).
This role begins by assisting experienced Capture Strategists in building and executing federal growth strategies and gradually progresses to independently managing a portfolio of clients. Associate Capture Strategists initially support senior team members by performing research on behalf of clients, assisting with opportunity identification within the DoW, supporting federal outreach efforts, and gaining hands-on experience with the federal acquisition process. He or she collaborates with Capture Strategists and Proposal Writers to ensure supporting materials are prepared and aligned with overall capture objectives.
As experience, judgment, and subject-matter knowledge grow, this role evolves to include direct responsibility for managing and maintaining enduring, long-term relationships with assigned clients, including developing a deep understanding of the clients’ technology, goals, and pain points; clearly communicating strategic plans; advising them on the potential benefits/drawbacks of that plan; adeptly navigating conflict to a peaceful resolution; and expertly focusing efforts on high-value efforts based on professional judgement.
This role focuses on building strong client relationships, developing a deep understanding of client technologies and goals, communicating strategically and professionally, and delivering timely, high-quality support while receiving mentorship, feedback, and increasing responsibility.

What Will You Be Responsible For?
Assist experienced Capture Strategists in federal capture activities, including research, opportunity identification, and outreach support with a path toward independent client ownership
Support the management and maintenance of strong working relationships with clients, gradually progressing to managing a portfolio of clients independently
Assist in the development of growth strategies on behalf of clients to grow their technology in the federal sector
Research and analyze DoW program requirements and federal opportunities
Support strategic outreach efforts with federal customers and end-users
Prepare for and support client meetings to review strategic objectives, discuss upcoming opportunities, and report outreach efforts
Support the preparation of and delivery of presentations to senior business executives and customers
Develop supporting collateral to assist conversations between client and DoW customers and end-users
Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events, as needed
Report and escalate to Management, as needed
Other duties as assigned

What Qualifications Do You Need?

4 years minimum of Department of War (DoW)/Department of Defense (DoD)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Ability to breakdown strategic ideas into actionable tasks
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to excel in building long-term, productive relationships with clients, government partners, and other key stakeholders
Strong customer service skills
Excellent communication skills including the ability for clear, concise, and direct communication via written and oral forms
Strong presentation skills
Proactive approach to driving results for clients
Ability to prioritize work
Demonstrated sense of responsibility and ability to work independently
Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
Strong attention to detail and follow up
Growth mindset and adaptability to keep up with frequently changing industry
Moderate travel required (25%)

Associate Capture Strategist
Early-career capture role
Focus on building foundational knowledge of federal acquisition, contracting, and capture strategy
Assist senior team members with research, opportunity identification, outreach support, and capture planning
Take on increasing responsibility over time, with exposure to limited client ownership
Annual Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
Typical time in role: Approximately 18-24 months, based on performance
Capture Strategist
Independently manage a full portfolio of clients
Build and execute federal growth and capture strategies
Lead client engagements and represent clients in conversations with Department of War (DoW)
Advise clients on opportunity assessments, acquisition pathways, and strategic position
Annual Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 plus commission/bonus pay
Senior Capture Strategist
Manage more complex client portfolios and lead complex and high-value capture efforts
Mentor Associate Capture Strategists and Capture Strategists
Annual Salary: $170,000+ plus commission/bonus pay
