SUMMARY:
The Los Angeles office of Clark Hill LLP is seeking a Docket Clerk to support its Los Angeles and San Diego offices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate and timely entry, maintenance, and auditing of court dates, deadlines, and related case information in the firm’s automated docketing system. This role requires a strong understanding of federal and state court rules, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This position reports to the Office Manager and works closely with attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative staff to ensure proper calendaring and compliance with court requirements. This is a 40 hours per week, non-exempt position with a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in-office). A fully remote work arrangement may be considered for highly qualified candidates with significant docketing experience and demonstrated ability to work independently, subject to firm needs and approval.
RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES:
- Enters court dates, deadlines, and related documents into the firm’s automated docketing system and ensures proper calculation of deadlines.
- Reviews and audits docket entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable court rules and firm procedures.
- Provides follow-up to attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants regarding calendar events and deadlines.
- Responds to procedural and docketing inquiries from attorneys and staff.
- Retrieves docket sheets, pleadings, and filings from courts or through third-party vendors.
- Generates, manages, and distributes docket reports, calendar updates, and deadline reminders.
- Monitors and stays current on federal, state, and local court rules, filing procedures, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Assists with quality control processes, including double-checking docket entries for consistency and accuracy.
- Supports electronic filing processes and provides guidance on filing requirements when needed.
- Manages, organizes, and maintains docket-related documentation in electronic systems.
- Participates in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Performs other duties or tasks as assigned or requested by the Office Manager, attorneys, paralegals, or administrative leadership.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience in docketing, litigation support, or as a legal assistant or paralegal required.
- Experience with automated docketing/calendaring systems (e.g., BEC, CompuLaw or similar) preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and electronic filing systems required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The salary range at the time of posting is approximately $35.00 – $46.00 hourly or approximately $72,000 – $95,000 annually, depending on experience and based upon a full-time work schedule. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to employee qualifications, relevant experience, skill sets, training, internal equity, and market data.
