The SAE Distance (Distance) Campus is seeking a Design Thinking Facilitator to join our academic
team.
This module enables students to deepen their understanding of the design thinking process through the application of innovative approaches and creative solutions to complex, real-world problems that inform persuasive projects in creative media design and production.

The facilitator will guide students in applying user-centred design principles, exploring concepts such as audience empathy, ideation, brainstorming, prototyping, iteration, and refinement. They will support students in developing narrative design skills, understanding how audiences engage emotionally with creative works, and transforming ideas into meaningful media productions.

The role requires a dynamic educator who can bridge creative practice and innovation, fostering reflective, analytical, and production-focused learning within a professional context.

Key Responsibilities:
● Facilitate Webinar sessions supported by presentations to deliver the curriculum and guide
the assessment task and project.
● Provide student support between webinar sessions when required by students.
● Provide constructive and timely feedback on student assessment tasks and project
submissions and ensure academic integrity is upheld.
● Grade assessment tasks/projects in line with the institutional policy timeline and the
administrative tasks associated.
● Partake in Programme coordinator meetings when required, and provide constructive
feedback to improve the curriculum, assessment tasks and programmme offering.
● Conduct administrative tasks related to the modules facilitated

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
● A Masters (NQF Level 9) in Creative Media (Film Production/ Game Design/ Digital Arts/Audio) or a related discipline – essential
● A Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience within the creative media sector (film,game, animation, sound, or design)
● A minimum of 2 years lecturing / teaching experience within higher education
● Online facilitation experience beneficial
● Proficient in Learning Management Systems and MS Office computer software
● Curriculum and assessment knowledge
● Excellent administrative and organizational ability

Essential skills:
• Ability to guide students in applying design thinking to creative production
• Strong understanding of user-centred and narrative design approaches
• Competence in academic writing, reflective practice, and creative analysis
• Proficiency in digital collaboration tools and creative production software
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and facilitation abilities in online settings.
