Job DetailsJob Location: mcallen, TX 78503Responsibilities: Coordinate assigned fleet capacity and drivers; manage and maintain assigned equipment resources to meet or exceed utilization objectives. Lead and retain a designated fleet of drivers, establish and maintain a good working relationship with each driver. Communicate professionally, effectively, and timely with both internal and external customers/contacts, communicate late pickups and/or deliveries, as well as any other load changes, to customers.  Maintain awareness and consider any road conditions, weather conditions or any issues that may interfere with timely delivery and adjust route as needed to ensure timely delivery Manage driver performance and recommend proper disciplinary steps if necessary Manage service levels of 90% for on time pick-up and delivery Scheduling drivers for specific required safety compliance activities Scheduling driver’s equipment for required maintenance work Maintain effective communication with assigned drivers and determine best course of action in resolving any issues that may arise during a load Manage driver availability to maximize productivity of the assigned fleet QualificationsEducation and Knowledge: Must have a minimum of One (1) years prior experience as a dispatcher within the transportation industry; High school diploma / GED Required.  A degree in transportation, supply chain management, or logistics will be preferred Must be detail-oriented and organized; possess good communication skills; great multitasking skills; Preferred experience in Dispatching System but will train. Computer skills: You should be proficient with computer technology, able to learn company-specific programs, and access GPS monitoring programs. Must be able to work nights/weekends (remotely) and have schedule flexibility; and Analytical thinking: This can help you assess situations like unanticipated road closures. Should you reschedule or send the driver on an alternate route? Language skills: You should be fluent in English and knowing a second language as well can be very advantageous and make you a stronger candidate.  DOT regulations – it is crucial for truck dispatchers to have a strong understanding of transportation regulations and laws in the state they are working Strong experience and knowledge with DOT and FMCSA a plus. Microsoft Office applications – communicating with vendors and customers often involves using Microsoft Outlook and generating reports and logs entails the use of Microsoft Excel and Word Interpersonal skills: You'll be working with drivers, customers, and vendors, not all of whom will necessarily have the same goals in mind
