About the Role

At MiniMed, we’re transforming how patients access and experience care. We’re seeking a Director of US Access & Reimbursement to support patient access to MiniMed’s life-changing technologies, helping to make them more accessible to people living with diabetes.

The Director, US Access & Reimbursement is responsible for developing and executing the company's market access and reimbursement strategy to ensure payer coverage, patient access, and commercial success of the company's diabetes portfolio. This strategic leadership role partners cross-functionally to influence coverage, coding, pricing, and policy initiatives while leading both the internal reimbursement team and a national Field Reimbursement team.

The Director serves as a key commercial partner, working closely with Government Affairs, Payer Account Management, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Marketing, Medical Affairs, Pricing, and Sales to develop integrated strategies that improve patient access and support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

US Access Strategy

  • Develop and execute comprehensive market access and reimbursement strategies aligned with commercial objectives and product lifecycle plans.
  • Partner with Commercial leadership to ensure market access considerations are integrated into product launch planning, lifecycle management, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify reimbursement opportunities and barriers, developing proactive solutions to optimize health plan coverage and patient access.
  • Monitor changes in the reimbursement landscape and recommend strategic responses to evolving payer and healthcare system dynamics.

Reimbursement Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of reimbursement strategies addressing coding, coverage, payment, and provider education.
  • Oversee reimbursement support programs, ensuring high-quality guidance for healthcare providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop reimbursement tools, educational materials, and customer-facing resources to support appropriate utilization and access.
  • Monitor reimbursement trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Policy & Government Affairs Partnership

  • Partner closely with Government Affairs to establish policy priorities that support patient access and long-term business objectives.
  • Provide reimbursement and market access expertise to support legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.
  • Monitor federal and state healthcare policy developments and assess potential commercial impact.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with HEOR to inform evidence-generation strategies that demonstrate clinical and economic value.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop value messaging and customer education materials supporting market access objectives.
  • Work with Payer Account Management to align payer engagement strategies with reimbursement and evidence-generation priorities.
  • Support commercial training initiatives by providing reimbursement expertise to Sales and customer-facing teams.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the internal Market Access & Reimbursement organization.
  • Provide leadership for a national Field Reimbursement team, establishing performance expectations, coaching, and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on customer service, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build organizational capabilities to support company growth and evolving market needs.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop annual strategic plans, budgets, and performance metrics for Market Access & Reimbursement.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, payer policies, and reimbursement changes to inform business strategy.
  • Establish objectives and key results (OKRs) to measure market access effectiveness and reimbursement support outcomes.

Critical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare reimbursement systems, including coding, coverage, and payment methodologies, as well as pharmaceutical product(s) contracting and coverage mechanisms
  • Experience collaborating with Government Affairs, commercial leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Positive, solutions-oriented, customer-first mindset.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business, Health Administration, or related field and 10+ years market access, marketing, patient services, field reimbursement, or related roles in healthcare industry and 7+ years of people leadership experience, including management of both direct and field-based teams.
  • Or, advanced degree and 8+ years market access, marketing, patient services, field reimbursement, or related roles in healthcare industry and 7+ years of people leadership experience, including management of both direct and field-based teams.

Nice to Have

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare reimbursement systems, including coding, coverage, and payment methodologies, as well as pharmaceutical product(s) contracting and coverage mechanisms
  • Experience collaborating with Government Affairs, commercial leadership, and cross-functional partners.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$167,000.00 - $285,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $186,000 - $316,000 USD. 

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). 


 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
