About TCF

The Convergence Foundation (TCF) is an Indian philanthropic foundation established by Ashish and Manisha Dhawan in April 2021. TCF builds on their legacy of impactful philanthropy, including the founding of transformative institutions like Ashoka University and the Central Square Foundation (CSF).

Our mission is clear: to transform the lives of all Indians through rapid, sustained economic growth and inclusive development.

To achieve this, we focus on 3 pillars: (1) direct engines of economic growth that enable job creation; (2) human capital development through education and employability; and (3) development enablers that strengthen the philanthropic ecosystem and improve state capacity. In each area, TCF works on:

  1. 1. Building pioneering institutions to address India's most complex socio-economic challenges
  2. 2. Shaping the larger ecosystem and sharing knowledge, insights and learning with other philanthropists, governments and key stakeholders

We believe that the government is the key actor for system change, and philanthropy's role is to strategically support the government. The proof is in the results: CSF's work helped build momentum on foundational learning and numeracy (FLN) and resulted in the NIPUN Bharat Mission, which by 2025 helped achieve the highest-ever Grade 3 level FLN outcomes in the Annual Status of Education Report across states. On the economic growth side, Foundation for Economic Development and Prosperiti have served as knowledge partners to the government and helped accelerate the Reform Express, advancing the Prime Minister's mission of Viksit Bharat. These are only some of the system- and population-scale outcomes our portfolio of 20+ organisations has enabled.

Position Summary

This role sits within TCF's Philanthropic Partnerships team and leads TCF's work with India's Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNIs) — one of three constituencies the team covers, alongside global foundations and CSR.

Today, this work runs primarily through the Economic Growth Collaborative (EGC), TCF's platform for engaging UHNIs on India's growth story, with room to grow into other TCF platforms as relationships mature. The role's core purpose is to grow the philanthropic capital UHNIs commit to India's growth agenda — built on trusted relationships, strong content, and well-designed conversations that turn interest into sustained engagement and giving.

The role reports to the COO and works closely with TCF's Founder and CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, deepen, and orchestrate relationships with UHNIs who care about India's growth story — working through and alongside TCF's existing relationships, and building new ones where needed.
  • Grow the philanthropic capital UHNIs commit to India's growth agenda — turning trust and engagement into meaningful giving, working closely with TCF's leadership on significant commitments.
  • Curate TCF's research, portfolio work, and ecosystem knowledge into content that keeps UHNI members informed and engaged.
  • Design and lead conversations and convenings that bring the right UHNIs together around the right themes — creating genuine, high-trust engagement, not just events.
  • Spot and make warm introductions between UHNIs and TCF portfolio organisations where interests, networks, or capital align.
  • Work closely with the rest of the Philanthropic Partnerships team (global foundations and CSR) as one team.
  • Help shape the medium-term roadmap for EGC and TCF's broader UHNI engagement, working with the Founder, CEO, and COO.

Ideal Candidate – Experience & Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience across wealth management, development finance, professional services, think tanks or policy work, with familiarity in India's economic growth agenda — economic policy, exports, investment climate, urban growth, or innovation.
  • A track record of building long-term, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders — UHNIs, CXOs, or senior policymakers.
  • Experience in a role where content and ideas mattered — journalism, a think tank, consulting, development finance, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently hold substantive conversations with senior audiences, not just support or coordinate them.
  • A strong undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree; a background in economics, public policy, journalism, or finance is an advantage.

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • Intellectual curiosity — a genuine interest in ideas and how India's economy works, with the ability to engage substantively on growth, policy, and markets even without specialist depth.
  • Builds relationships through content and credibility, not just access or introductions.
  • Comfortable operating independently — able to open a relationship and carry a conversation without a senior person in the room.
  • Enjoys people and relationship-building for its own sake — this matters as much as subject-matter knowledge.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail in managing contacts, outreach, and follow-ups.
  • Comfortable working alongside founders and senior colleagues without needing permission at every step.
  • Strong communicator, able to make complex ideas accessible without oversimplifying them.

Desirable

  • Experience designing or facilitating high-quality conversations, roundtables, or convenings.
  • Prior exposure to UHNI, philanthropic, or policy circles in India.
  • A visible personal track record as a credible voice on India's economic growth (writing, speaking, or similar).
  • Experience working in a founder-led, fast-evolving organisation.
