JOB SUMMARY

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Project Management Office (PMO) to lead and develop the company’s overall project management function. This position will provide leadership, integration, and oversight of project management processes and practices to improve the consistency, efficiency, quality, and successful delivery of Velocity’s projects and strategic initiatives.

The Director of PMO will establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, tools, governance practices, and success measures across the organization. This individual will develop the PMO as a Center of Excellence, supporting the growth of project management professionals while promoting industry best practices, knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with senior leadership, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. In addition to leading the PMO, the Director will personally oversee selected strategic initiatives that are critical to the organization’s success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the PMO governance, reporting, and project review framework to provide senior leadership with a comprehensive view of organizational projects, risks, issues, and challenges.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with project leaders, executive sponsors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Project Stewardship

  • Maintain accountability for the successful execution and performance of company initiatives, including customer-facing implementations, rollout, and internal projects.
  • Lead project quality reviews and post-project assessments to identify lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Identify and implement innovative project management approaches, methodologies, tools, and technologies that improve organizational performance.
  • Establish and maintain the PMO Center of Excellence, providing project management professionals with resources, training, best practices, and opportunities for professional development.

  • Bachelor's (Required)


Experience:


  • Smartsheet: 3 years (Required)
  • PMO : 5 years (Required)

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in project management leadership, including budget management and executive dashboard/reporting.
  • Demonstrated history of successfully delivering complex projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading teams with direct reports.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting annual project planning and leading monthly budget reforecasting activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PMI, Scrum Master, or related project management certification.
  • Demonstrated passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing project management professionals.
  • Experience implementing organizational resource management practices.
  • Experience establishing or transforming a PMO or Project Management Center of Excellence.
  • Experience managing enterprise-level strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of project portfolio management and organizational change management
