Director of Photography (DOP) — Client Project

Aru Labs | Project-based opportunity

Aru Labs is looking for a Director of Photography / Cinematographer for an upcoming independent web-series project being produced for a client.

This is a project-based role, not a permanent position at Aru Labs.

The series is a character-driven story exploring startups, ambition, relationships, friendship, money and life.

The project is expected to shoot across locations in India and potentially internationally.

What you'll do

• Develop the visual language and cinematography approach for the series

• Work closely with the Director during pre-production and production

• Help plan camera, lenses, lighting and equipment requirements

• Recommend and coordinate the camera/lighting team where required

• Participate in location and technical planning

• Lead cinematography during the shoot

• Help conduct a short test shoot before principal photography

• Work with the Director and 1st AD to make the production achievable within the schedule

What we're looking for

• Strong cinematography or filmmaking portfolio

• Good understanding of lighting, lenses, composition and visual storytelling

• Comfortable working on a lean, independent production

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Experience working with small production teams is a plus

• Commercial, film, music video, short film or web-series experience is welcome

You do not need to have worked on a large studio production.

We're more interested in your eye, storytelling ability and ability to work collaboratively.

Working arrangement

Remote: Yes, during pre-production
Travel: Required during production
Engagement: Project-based / contract
Production window: Late November – early December
Potential locations: Bengaluru, Mumbai, NCR and Bali
