Director of Engineering

About the Role

Lead product engineering for a growing education technology company that helps schools plan schedules for teachers and students. You will manage multiple product squads, partner with cross-functional leaders, and guide the platform through its next stage of growth.

What You'll Do

• Own delivery and team development across product squads focused on scheduling, visibility and reporting, and elementary education.

• Contribute code, review code, and pair with engineers, starting with an approximately 50/50 balance of hands-on work and leadership.

• Make and implement architectural decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.

• Work with product and other stakeholders to set squad goals and connect engineering priorities to business outcomes.

• Deliver high-value product features ahead of the school scheduling season, including AI-powered capabilities.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of engineering management experience driving product and business outcomes, including managing multiple teams and other managers.

• Strong hands-on engineering skills, with backend architecture and design experience and the ability to assess technical trade-offs.

• Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, with experience using React, AWS, and MongoDB.

• Experience scaling teams and guiding technical decisions in a startup or high-growth environment.

• Ability to communicate technical decisions in terms of business outcomes and align cross-functional partners.

• Background in education technology or related learning and teaching fields, with an interest in applying AI.

• Willingness to travel for periodic company retreats and business needs.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $210,000 to $240,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
