We're seeking a Director of Consumer Experience and Design to champion exceptional, outcomes-driven consumer experiences. This newly created role elevates experience into a core strategic lever, driving adoption, engagement, retention, and differentiation. With a proven track record of building successful consumer products, you'll transform our FHIR-based platform into a market-leading consumer experience that motivates sustained health action and delivers measurable business impact.

This position is available for fully remote work.

Position Description

You’ll build and lead a high-performing, integrated experience team within Product Management. You'll own the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of experiences across all b.well touchpoints, with direct accountability for engagement, satisfaction, usability, and experience quality metrics. As the executive advocate for the user, you'll partner with Product Managers to ensure consumer insights, behavioral science, and design excellence inform product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Building, Leadership and Impact
  • Build, scale, and lead a high-performing organization across Consumer Engagement, User Research & Insights, and UX/UI Design
  • Establish experience principles and quality standards that ensure consistency
  • Develop organizational structure, scalable process, and team composition to support product roadmap execution
  • Define and own experience quality metrics tied to user outcomes and business impact
Behavioral Science, Engagement & Research
  • Apply behavioral science to drive health actions, from onboarding to sustained engagement
  • Develop engagement frameworks and multi-channel campaign strategies that motivate users across the health journey
  • Lead user research strategy and VOC programs, translating insights into product priorities
  • Develop experimentation frameworks to test and optimize engagement  
Design Excellence & Experience Execution
  • Lead design strategy for complex, healthcare workflows, ensuring quality standards
  • Drive experience frameworks, journey maps, and service design that guide product development
  • Oversee design system evolution and governance  
  • Champion accessibility, inclusivity, and health literacy across all experiences
  • Drive innovation in AI-enabled interactions and emerging technologies
Cross-Functional Partnership 
  • Partner with Product Managers to ensure user insights, behavioral science, and design excellence inform strategy
  • Align teams around a shared definition of "great experience" and how it is measured
  • Support sales and client teams, showcasing experience capabilities as competitive advantages  
  • Collaborate with Data Science to build predictive models for engagement and personalization
Required Experience:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in consumer product management, UX/UI design, or customer experience leadership, with deep expertise in translating product strategy into exceptional user experiences
  • Proven track record of building successful consumer products from concept to scale with measurable user impact
  • Expertise in behavioral science principles applied to drive engagement and action
  • Experience in executing engagement campaigns or initiatives that measurably improve activation and retention
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders  
  • Experience building user research and VOC programs
  • Deep understanding of UX/UI design principles, design systems, and design operations
  • Fluency in experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven optimization  
  • Experience with AI-enabled consumer experiences and emerging technologies in consumer products
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, building teams and capabilities from the ground up
  • Expertise in accessibility standards and WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance

The target salary range for this position is $175,000 - $255,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options, benefits, and incentive pay for eligible roles. Individual pay or title may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
