Overview
The Director Implementation, Health Systems & Specialty Pharmacy leads pharmacy operations and oversees a team responsible for delivering high-quality implementation services across health system and specialty pharmacy environments. Working closely with clients, operational leaders, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders, this role ensures implementation projects are completed efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with established project methodologies and operational requirements.
The Director is responsible for overseeing implementation activities, removing barriers to successful execution, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and promoting consistency across implementation practices. This position supports a positive client experience while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and company standards. Through effective leadership, collaboration, and team development, the Director fosters a high-performing implementation team focused on delivering exceptional service, operational readiness, and successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities
Implementation & Operational Leadership
- Provide leadership to establish and implement new pharmacy operations by working closely with internal teams, clients, vendors, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee implementation activities to ensure projects are executed effectively, meet established objectives, and support operational readiness.
- Identify opportunities for workflow and process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, consistency, and the overall implementation experience
- Ensure all projects adhere to established project management methodologies, standards, and company requirements.
- Assess project risks and facilitate timely resolution of high-priority issues and barriers to successful execution.
- Ensure staff are informed of product upgrades, system enhancements, and operational changes in a timely manner.
- Travel as required to support current and future operations.
Quality, Compliance & Operational Standards
- Partner with leadership to ensure pharmacy operations provide optimal services, meet applicable legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and comply with State Board of Pharmacy regulations and applicable federal requirements, including DEA and HIPAA standards.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding company, employee, client, and sensitive business information.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Spend more than one-half of working time performing management and leadership responsibilities.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and, when necessary, administer corrective action for departmental staff.
- Develop team members through mentoring, career coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and employee engagement.
- Conduct initial, annual, and ongoing performance evaluations and discussions.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across geographically dispersed teams.
Administrative & Organizational Responsibilities
- Review and approve departmental timesheets, ensuring accuracy and timely payroll submission, as applicable.
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of work experience & education
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years’ experience relevant to the responsibilities and duties specified with experience in project management, healthcare or pharmacy preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge
- Knowledge of health system, specialty pharmacy, and 340B drug discount program operations.
- Knowledge of pharmacy-related regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements, including State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and HIPAA standards.
- Working knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and pharmacy technology platforms.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and implementation best practices.
- Working knowledge of business productivity and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Office applications; experience with Confluence or similar project documentation tools preferred.
