Remote is seeking a Director, Commercial Legal to lead its Commercial Legal function and support the company’s mission to make global employment simple, compliant, and accessible for organizations everywhere. As a senior member of the Legal team, this role is responsible for guiding a talented group of commercial lawyers and delivering pragmatic, innovative legal solutions that empower Remote’s growth in the HR-tech and SaaS sectors.

The Director, Commercial Legal will serve as the directly responsible individual for all commercial legal matters, overseeing contract reviews and negotiations for sales, partnerships, and procurement. This leader will drive improvements in commercial terms and contracting processes, enabling go-to-market teams to close enterprise-level deals efficiently. The role also provides strategic support to partnership teams, ensuring business intent is captured while maintaining commercial viability and timely deal closure.

Collaboration is central to this position. The Director will work closely with revenue operations and legal operations to automate workflows, leverage AI for contracting efficiency, and maintain the contract lifecycle management system. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across GTM, Finance, and other teams is essential to inform decision-making and enhance Legal’s influence in commercial strategy.

The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with significant in-house experience in commercial contracts, particularly within HR-tech or SaaS environments. Demonstrated leadership in managing legal teams, a track record of complex negotiations, and a passion for using technology and AI to drive efficiency are critical. The ability to mentor, motivate, and build trusted relationships in a fully remote, asynchronous environment is key.
