Deputy Counsel
We are looking for an experienced attorney to assist in managing our firm's internal legal and compliance matters. The ideal candidate is one with previous experience as in-house or general counsel, with a solid grasp on ethics and regulatory issues. This position imparts broad responsibilities in various areas of law spanning multiple jurisdictions. Because our firm’s headquarters are in New York, this position entails communicating with our main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the firm’s management in supervising a heavy & diversified practice
- Providing strategic legal advice to the firm’s management
- Identifying proactive solutions to eliminate or mitigate risks
- Working directly with the Firm’s outside counsel
- Reviewing & drafting agreements, legal memoranda, policies, etc.
- Research relating to simple and complex legal, ethics, and regulatory issues
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Must be currently admitted to practice law in New York
- Must be practicing law for a minimum of 5 years
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with members at all levels of the organization
Exceptional written and oral communication skills are a MUST
- Superior organizational & time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Prior civil litigation experience is required
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
