The Database Engineer designs, configures, and maintains databases for the MEDXS program to ensure high availability and security. They are responsible for performance tuning, database audits, applying patches, and supporting data integrations for analytics dashboards.
PMdigital.ai is looking for a Database Engineer to support the Air Force Operational Medicine Information Systems (AFOMIS) Program Office and AFCENT Surgeon General (AFCENT/SG) on the Medical Expeditionary Systems (MEDXS) program. MEDXS provides full life-cycle IM/IT support for the Air Force Medical Service's operational medicine capabilities. That includes the MEDXS Web Portal, the medical Waiver Management System, analytics dashboards, and Theater Medical Information Program–Joint (TMIP-J) applications used by deployed medical forces at garrison and forward locations in the USCENTCOM AOR.
Database Engineer (MEDXS)
• Location: Remote (CONUS), with travel to the AOR
• Clearance: Active Secret
• Travel: Periodic travel to hosting facilities, DHA facilities, and OCONUS locations

Position Summary
The Database Engineer designs, configures, and sustains the databases behind MEDXS, the Waiver Management System, and the analytics dashboards. You'll keep DoD healthcare data highly available, secure, and recoverable.
Key Responsibilities
• Configure and maintain Oracle, SQL, and other databases in cloud-based, web-based, and Windows server and client environments.
• Keep large-scale DoD healthcare databases highly available, with performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Run database audits, transaction logging, backup, and recovery to protect data integrity and traceability.
• Apply database patches and updates in the test environment before they're deployed to production.
• Support database security scans, hardening, and RMF documentation for the ATO and ATC.
• Support the data feeds and integrations behind the analytics dashboards.
• Analyze and resolve database-related trouble reports.
Required Qualifications
• 10 or more years of directly relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining Oracle, SQL, and other databases in cloud-based, web-based, Windows server-based, and Windows client applications.
• Experience managing large-scale, highly available DoD healthcare databases.
• DCWF Work Role 421 (Database Administrator), Intermediate proficiency per DoDM 8140.03.
• OCONUS Readiness Requirements (below).
Preferred Qualifications
• Oracle or Microsoft database certifications.
• Experience with medical waiver or military health data.
OCONUS Readiness Requirements (Mandatory on Day 1)
• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance (T3). Clearance verification will be required.
• Valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
• Proven experience managing personnel deployments, using the Synchronized Predeployment and Operational Tracker (SPOT), and handling host-nation theater clearance/DOCPER requirements across multiple OCONUS AORs.
