AI Summary

Govern and improve autonomous database resolution systems by identifying failure patterns and translating compliance requirements into operational policy. Act as the expert escalation point for complex database incidents and collaborate with customers on strategic operations.
We are growing the team behind our Autonomous Database Operations service — a managed service that detects, diagnoses, and resolves database incidents, fulfils maintenance and change requests, and maintains performance and security posture across customer environments with minimal human intervention. This is a role for a strong database engineer who wants to work in a fundamentally different way. You will not be manually tuning queries or working through a ticket queue. Instead, your expertise directly shapes the autonomous systems that do that work — across MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB environments running on AWS and Azure.
You will govern how the system resolves incidents, own the quality of its decisions, act as the expert escalation point for complex episodes that fall outside autonomous resolution, and work directly with customers on strategic database operations matters. Over time, you will deepen your coverage across all supported platforms and cloud environments.
This role is offered in Poland on a B2B contract basis, with remote working.

  • Govern and improve autonomous resolution. Review how the system has resolved database incidents and maintenance requests, identify failure patterns, and continuously improve resolution logic, tuning policies, and governance guardrails. Translate customer compliance, data governance, and availability requirements into enforceable operational policy, ensuring automated actions remain within safe, auditable, and recoverable boundaries.
  • Act as the expert escalation point. Assess complex or novel database episodes — performance crises, schema-level incidents, corruption events — that fall outside autonomous resolution, make fast and well-reasoned decisions, and feed those learnings back into the system. Know when to intervene and when to let automation proceed, and communicate that rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work directly with customers. Build trust in autonomous resolution with customer stakeholders, advise on how to get the most from the service across their database estate, and contribute to customer success on strategic database operations matters.
  • Build and improve automated operations. Contribute to automated remediation workflows and self-healing database patterns that reduce manual intervention across customer environments.

Participate in an on-call rotation for complex episodes requiring human judgment outside standard business hours — the majority of incidents are handled autonomously, so genuine out-of-hours intervention is the exception rather than the rule.
  • Database expertise.
    1. Solid commercial experience across two or more of the following platforms: MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB — with a clear ambition to develop across all five.
    2. Strong experience with performance tuning, query optimisation, indexing strategies, and capacity management in production environments.
    3. Sound understanding of database security, backup and recovery architecture, and compliance requirements.
  • Cloud database experience.
    1. Hands-on experience with cloud-managed database services — such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, or Azure SQL Database — and an understanding of how operational practice differs in cloud-native environments compared to on-premises installations.
    2. Familiarity with AWS or Azure platform fundamentals: monitoring, alerting, identity and access management, and infrastructure-as-code practices as they apply to database operations.
  • Automation mindset.
    1. A demonstrated instinct for automation — you reach for a script or pipeline before a manual fix, and you have a track record of eliminating repetitive operational work rather than just supplementing it.
    2. Comfort reading and adapting existing automation, even if you have not previously designed end-to-end remediation pipelines from scratch.
  • Operational judgment.
    1. The ability to assess a complex database situation quickly, decide on the right course of action, and communicate clearly under pressure.
    2. Comfort with ambiguity and ownership in a fast-moving environment where customer estates vary and problems are not always well-defined.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Cloud database certifications — such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or equivalent — or demonstrated depth in lieu of formal certification.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role within a managed service or platform company, rather than purely internal or project-based delivery.
  • Familiarity with database observability tooling, event-driven architectures, or AIOps platforms where systems take autonomous action based on observed state.
  • Exposure to AI or ML-assisted automation applied to IT operations, including evaluating automated decisions and improving them over time.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology projects with major clients.
  • A supportive, collaborative, and innovative work environment.
  • Continuous professional development opportunities.
