Oulton College is seeking a qualified professional with a Master’s degree in Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Public Health, or a closely related discipline to support our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program as a Course Developer for Health Promotion and Community Health Nursing.

This course explores the principles of health promotion, population health, and primary health care within the Canadian context. Students examine the role of the community health nurse in supporting individuals, families, groups, and communities, while considering epidemiological concepts and the impact of professional, legal, ethical, economic, cultural, diversity and inclusion, and environmental factors on community health practice. Emphasis is placed on health equity, prevention, and the development of health promotion strategies that improve outcomes across diverse populations.


Course Development Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the development and organization of course materials and learning activities, including:

  • Developing course outlines, lesson content, and instructional materials aligned with program outcomes and academic standards
  • Creating assignments, learning activities, and evaluation tools that promote critical thinking and application to nursing practice
  • Incorporating current evidence-based practice and contemporary public health principles into course content
  • Integrating concepts related to health promotion, population health, epidemiology, diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural safety, and ethical practice.
  • Designing learning experiences that support the development of health promotion strategies for individuals, families, and communities.
  • Ensuring course materials reflect current Canadian public health priorities and community health nursing practices
  • Collaborating with the academic team to support curriculum quality, consistency, and continuous improvement



Requirements

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Public Health, or a closely related field
  • Candidate must be a Registered Nurse
  • Experience in curriculum or course development is considered a strong asset
  • Strong understanding of health promotion, population health, epidemiology, and community health nursing principles
  • Knowledge of Canadian public health systems and culturally safe, inclusive nursing practice
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practice and outcome-based education
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and instructional design skills
  • Ability to develop engaging, academically rigorous content for degree-level learners
