Job Summary
Uphold is entering the Nordics as one of our first post-MiCA expansion regions within the EEA. The Country Head – Nordics will initially lead the launch, growth, and management of Uphold’s business in Norway and Finland, with responsibility expected to expand rapidly to Sweden and Denmark as we scale across the region.
This is a senior, highly cross-functional role reporting to the President UK & Europe Consumer, with responsibility for regional P&L, market strategy, regulatory engagement, commercial execution, and brand development across the Nordic markets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing Uphold as one of the most trusted and customer-centric digital asset platforms in Northern Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full P&L for the Nordic region, accountable for growth, revenue, CAC payback, LTV uplift, and ROI on market investment.
- Develop and execute Uphold’s Nordic go-to-market strategy, initially focused on Norway and Finland and subsequently expanding into Sweden and Denmark.
- Define market-entry sequencing, resource allocation, product priorities, pricing strategy, and competitive positioning across the region.
- Drive acquisition, activation, retention, and share-of-wallet growth across all Nordic markets.
- Analyse customer behaviour and market performance data to optimise funnel performance and maximise customer lifetime value.
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Compliance, and Operations teams to localise experiences where required while maintaining regional operating efficiency.
- Act as Uphold’s senior representative to relevant regulators, industry bodies, trade associations, and consumer advocacy groups throughout the Nordic region.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with MiCA and country-specific regulatory requirements.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with banks, payment providers, fintech partners, affiliates, influencers, comparison sites, and other key distribution channels.
- Identify opportunities for competitive differentiation versus both local and pan-European crypto platforms.
- Establish Uphold as one of the most trusted consumer brands for digital assets across the Nordics.
- Lead regional PR, communications, media engagement, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to support wider European expansion efforts.
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a lean but high-impact regional team spanning growth, partnerships, regulatory affairs, and market operations.
- Manage agency relationships, external vendors, and in-market support resources.
- Develop a scalable operating model capable of supporting multiple Nordic markets efficiently.
- Foster a culture of accountability, execution excellence, and customer obsession.
Experience & Capabilities Required
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, crypto, payments, or high-growth consumer technology.
- Proven track record of launching and scaling businesses in one or more Nordic markets.
- Experience owning or materially influencing P&L performance, ideally at $10m+ annual revenue scale.
- Strong understanding of Nordic consumer behaviour, competitive dynamics, and market-entry strategies.
- Experience operating across multiple countries or managing regional responsibilities is highly desirable.
- Strong familiarity with European financial regulation; MiCA experience highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Deep expertise in growth strategy, customer acquisition, retention, pricing, and commercial execution.
- Strong analytical capability with experience in customer segmentation, funnel optimisation, LTV/CAC modelling, experimentation, and forecasting.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across Product, Compliance, Marketing, Operations, and Risk.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build new markets from the ground up using limited resources.
