AI Summary

Establish and maintain configuration management processes and technical documentation aligned with DoD and Air Force standards. Manage configuration baselines, track change requests, and ensure end-to-end traceability across the DevSecOps lifecycle.

About the role

Concept Plus is seeking a Configuration Management (CM) / Documentation Specialist to support Air Force IT systems development and operations. This role requires knowledge and understanding of Air Force IT processes and technology stack, including DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, Cloud One environments, Oracle-based systems, and Java application stacks. Air Force systems are deployed in both classified and unclassified DISA and cloud environments, requiring strong adherence to DoD configuration management, documentation, and compliance standards.

The CM / Documentation Specialist provides critical support in establishing and maintaining configuration baselines, controlling system changes, and ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability to support modernization and enhancement of Air Force systems. This role serves as a key interface with the customer and the Program Management Office (PMO), ensuring that configuration items, documentation artifacts, and change management activities align with program requirements, governance processes, and mission needs.

The CM / Documentation Specialist works across capability delivery teams—including development Scrums, Cloud Engineering, and DevSecOps platform resources—to maintain end-to-end traceability across requirements, changes, and deployments. The role supports Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes, version control practices, and documentation governance, ensuring all system updates are properly documented, reviewed, approved, and auditable throughout the DevSecOps lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Establish and maintain Configuration Management (CM) processes and procedures aligned with DoD and Air Force standards
  • Manage and control configuration baselines for systems, environments, code, and documentation
  • Ensure traceability across requirements → design → development → testing → deployment → release
  • Support integration of CM practices within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring version control and auditability of all changes
  • Maintain and govern technical documentation, including system architecture, SOPs, ICDs, runbooks, and deployment guides
  • Manage and track change requests, ensuring proper review, approval, and implementation through established workflows
  • Support audit readiness and compliance activities, including preparation of documentation for RMF, ATO, and program reviews
  • Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage documentation, track changes, and provide visibility into system status
  • Ensure proper version control and repository management using Git-based systems
  • Collaborate with development, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering teams to ensure consistent documentation and configuration practices
  • Support development and maintenance of Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and change governance processes
  • Maintain alignment between PWS requirements, CDRLs, and delivered artifacts
  • Creating and maintaining Version Description Documents (VDD), Software Configuration Management (SCM) plans, and system documentation required for Authority to Operate (ATO) activities.
  • Compliance & Audit Readiness: Integrating security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) into the pipeline and performing configuration audits to ensure adherence to DoD RMF, STIGs, and CMMC.
  • Version Control & Artifact Management: Managing code branching/merging strategies (Git/Subversion) and the flow of artifacts to prevent configuration discrepancies.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Clearance
  • DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher
  • 5–7 years of experience in configuration management, technical documentation, or DevSecOps support roles
  • Experience with configuration management principles and tools (Git, version control systems)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps environments
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation and system artifacts
  • Knowledge of DoD standards and processes (RMF, documentation control, audit readiness)
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools for tracking and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience supporting Air Force systems
  • Familiarity with Cloud One and Platform One environments
  • Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and change management workflows
  • Knowledge of CDRL deliverables and DoD documentation standards
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) versioning and configuration practices
