Job Title: Community Development Specialist

Position Summary:

The Community Development Specialist will support the implementation of fundraising strategies and manage logistics for the Community Development Department’s fundraising efforts. The Specialist will play a critical role in the success of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, serving as a key operational and technical partner to the fundraising team and serve as a primary point of contact for a key external vendor. This position is heavily focused on the technical side of fundraising, including the management, analysis, and distribution of fundraising data and reports that help drive strategy, track performance, and support revenue growth initiatives.

The Specialist will also directly manage multiple Walk for PKD events, along with our Marathon program, by providing coaching and fundraising guidance to participants to help maximize engagement and fundraising outcomes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact and administrator for the GoFundMe Pro (GFMP, formerly Classy) platform. Responsibilities include: creating, updating, and publishing fundraising event pages and templates, creating fundraising reports across events, submitting and managing support requests, and website testing to determine data accuracy while syncing with other platforms
  • Directly manage multiple Walk for PKD events, by providing 1:1 coaching and support for participants and volunteers
  • Directly manage the Marathon program, by reviewing and approving participant applications, providing ongoing fundraising and donation platform support, submitting recurring fundraising reports, and completing annual Charity Program applications
  • Provide support developing and implementing fundraising strategies as determined by the Director of Community Development
  • Track and implement local and national Walk for PKD (cash and in-kind) sponsorship benefits according to their benefits agreement, providing regular updates to the Community Development team regarding sponsorship payment status
  • Track Walk for PKD fundraising progress on Salesforce and GFMP and provide regular updates to the Community Development team regarding progress toward program goal, gap to goal, and other KPIs Assist in the development of fundraising materials and communications
  • Manage and organize the Community Development Department’s files/folder system on SharePoint
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Double the Donation inquiries and utilize the platform to optimize fundraising strategies and outcomes
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including volunteers, vendors, and community partners
  • Oversee the development of and ordering process for Walk for PKD t-shirts and incentive prizes

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Significant experience with GFMP (formerly Classy) and Salesforce platforms required
  • Experience with Double the Donation preferred
  • Strong organizational and multi-project management skills required
  • Experience in volunteer and event management preferred
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Ability to collaborate effectively among highly diverse (geographically & professionally) teams

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Use hands and arms, read, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, and see objects clearly at 20 inches or less.
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 20 lbs.

Work Location and Travel Requirements:

 

  • Position is remote, home-based, and available in any state within the continental U.S.
  • Employee must have dedicated workspace free from distractions.
  • The workspace should be large enough to work efficiently and have reliable internet and phone connectivity.
  • Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate occasional community events.
  • Employees residing outside of the Kansas City Metro must live within reasonable proximity to a major airport hub for required travel.
  • Occasional business travel will be required to the PKD Foundation office in Kansas City, Missouri.

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, PKDF provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. The anticipated pay range for this role is

$50,000 - $60,000 annually. Multiple factors may be used to determine your actual salary, including: your specific skills and experience, physical location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
