Essential Functions:
Generates leads, develops new accounts and handles existing accounts to maintain client satisfaction and compete in the property and casualty marketplace.  

Position Summary
Requires an aggressive, committed and energetic individual with excellent communication skills, self-starter, ability to problem-solve and who has a desire to achieve and continually learn during the process of generating new accounts and maintaining relationships with existing accounts and referral channels.
 
Duties/Activities
  • Coordinates with the Commercial Lines Practice Leader and/or Sales Manager to perform market research and develop new programs and/or services to ensure company remains competitive in the marketplace.
  • Actively generates new leads and accounts through community activities, cold calling and account expansions.
  • Follows up on all leads and referrals in a timely manner.
  • Determines whether prospective clients are interested in the company’s products.
  • Assists Account Executive in placing new accounts, when appropriate.
  • Actively promotes POWERS and the insurance industry in the community.
  • Keeps informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending company training meetings on new coverages and products.
  • Continually learning.  Coachable in insurance sales and prospecting.
  • Utilizes and maintains client, prospect records, account folders and computer files in accordance with established procedures including using the company’s CRM.
  • Participates in training programs as requested to the fullest extent possible.
  • Builds relationships with Trade Associations and other referral relationships.
 
New Business
  • Gathers all necessary risk information for a quality new business submission.
  • Works with Sales Manager to prepare applications, surveys and other submission documents on new accounts.
  • Reviews quotations to ensure accuracy.
  • Reviews proposal and fine tunes with Account Executive in a timely manner.
  • Presents proposal to prospects in a professional manner discussing coverage, limits, deductibles, and risk management exposures; answering questions to ensure understanding.
  • Determines appropriate premium payment and options with new client and closes sale.
  • Provides binding email with additional information, coverage choice and signed documents to Account Executive.
  • Delivers policies to client in a timely manner when appropriate.
 
Renewal Business
  • Reviews account expiration list with Account Executive and Account Manager to determine which accounts coming up for renewal need to be contacted and/or re-marketed.
  • Obtains updated information necessary for renewal / re-marketing of account.
  • Uses Wunderite (submission platform) to prepare applications and attaches all other submission documents on renewals in a timely manner, keeping an open line of communication with the Account Executive or Account Manager.
  • Discusses findings of risk management review with Account Executive or Account Manager in order to identify inadequate coverages or limits.
  • Establishes/maintains positive working relationship with key clients throughout the year.
 
Miscellaneous
  • Assists in collecting earned premiums, audit premiums, etc. when called upon.  Any uncollected agency bill premiums are the responsibility of the Producer.
  • Identifies opportunities to more efficiently develop and service business accounts while maintaining or improving quality and timeliness.
  • Coordinates / shares information with Account Executives and Account Managers.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
  • Self-starter, aggressive, detailed with follow-through.
  • Experience in the insurance field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ sales experience.
  • Competent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to master the agency management system.
  • P&C Broker license required within 90 days.
