Key Responsibilities
Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for P1/P2 incidents on assigned cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, identity) across AWS and Azure
Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD pipeline components, extending established patterns and standards
Own disaster recovery (DR) testing and backup validation for assigned systems
Support reliability and performance for assigned systems: advanced monitoring, alert response, and on-call rotation
Drive incident response and technical troubleshooting, documenting findings and leading post-incident reviews and evidence generation
Apply and help enforce cloud security best practices (IAM/RBAC, least privilege, network segmentation, encryption) in partnership with security teams
Lead evaluation and proof-of-concept testing of new tools and services
Support application and platform teams with migrations, service onboarding, and scaling requests, taking a more active design role than junior engineers
Drive cost optimization (FinOps) efforts on owned components, including rightsizing, waste identification, and cost-anomaly follow-up
Mentor Cloud Infrastructure Engineer I/II staff on troubleshooting, IaC practices, and runbook execution
Maintain and improve runbooks and documentation for owned systems, including audit-ready evidence for GxP-relevant workloads
Ensure adherence to approved reference architectures, security baselines, and tagging conventions for all provisioned resources
Contribute to architecture alignment discussions and escalate structural or design-level concerns to the Cloud Ops Lead

4-7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or site reliability engineering roles
Working experience with both AWS and Azure

Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
Experience with monitoring and observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar)
Experience leading RCA and incident response for production systems
Clear written communication skills; able to document work, lead runbook development, and drive established change control processes
Ability to work independently on complex tasks while mentoring junior team members
Willingness and ability to relocate per the assignment schedule (India for 3 months, then Ireland for 9 months), including any associated visa/work authorization requirements
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent
Terraform Associate certification
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
Experience in a nonprofit, foundation, or highly regulated (GxP, HIPAA) environment with data governance and audit-readiness requirements
Success Criteria
Assigned components consistently meet or exceed defined SLAs/SLOs for uptime and performance. Independently resolves complex incidents and drives RCA with minimal senior review. Mentorship of junior engineers is evident in their growing independence. Contributes to cost optimization and DR readiness targets.
