Job Summary
The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant cloud architectures supporting mission-critical workloads in highly regulated federal environments.
This role provides technical leadership for cloud architecture, security, governance, modernization, and integration initiatives, with a strong focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing enterprise cloud environments and working with federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud architectures within AWS environments.
Provide architectural leadership for cloud modernization, migration, and transformation initiatives.
Design and implement hybrid cloud and multi-cloud connectivity solutions.
Architect solutions leveraging AWS services and technologies, including Direct Connect, Outposts, Inspector, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
Ensure cloud environments align with federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, Authority to Operate (ATO), and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon).
Develop and implement cloud security architecture, governance frameworks, and security controls.
Integrate security monitoring and visibility capabilities using tools such as Splunk.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams, DevSecOps engineers, developers, program leadership, and federal stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight throughout the solution lifecycle.
Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions that improve security, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, security documentation, and cloud governance standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure architecture, or related technical disciplines.
Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud architectures.
Strong expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Hands-on knowledge of AWS technologies and services, including Direct Connect, Outposts, Inspector, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, identity and access management, network security, data protection, and security monitoring.
Experience with federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, Authority to Operate (ATO), and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon).
Experience with security monitoring and analytics platforms such as Splunk.
Experience designing hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
Strong communication and technical leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with technical teams, leadership, and federal stakeholders.
Strongly Preferred
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government cloud modernization and cybersecurity initiatives.
Relevant AWS professional-level or specialty certifications.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications.
