Job Title: CARMA (Center to Combat Antisemitism and Reinforce Multicultural Awareness) Director
Position Summary:
The CARMA Director will lead the development, implementation, and growth of educational, community engagement, and advocacy initiatives that combat antisemitism and identity-based hate while advancing multicultural understanding, inclusion, and respectful dialogue.
The Director will serve as a trusted educator, facilitator, and community leader, engaging schools, universities, civic organizations, community partners, and the broader public. The role combines strategic program leadership, education and curriculum development, coalition building, community engagement, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership:
- Lead CARMA’s strategy, programs, partnerships, and initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational and community programs.
- Establish goals, measure outcomes, and identify opportunities for growth and impact.
- Collaborate with Federation staff, volunteers, community leaders, and external partners.
Education & Curriculum:
- Develop and deliver workshops, trainings, presentations, and facilitated dialogues on antisemitism, Jewish history and identity, hate prevention, and multicultural understanding.
- Create educational toolkits, curricula, and resources for educators, students, community leaders, and institutions.
- Ensure programming is historically accurate, culturally responsive, and grounded in best practices.
Community Engagement & Coalition Building:
- Build and strengthen relationships with schools, universities, civic and multicultural organizations, faith communities, and private-sector partners.
- Convene educators, students, community professionals, and civic leaders to address emerging challenges and develop collaborative strategies.
- Represent CARMA and the Federation at community events, panels, conferences, and other public forums.
Antisemitism Prevention & Response:
- Provide guidance and resources to institutions responding to antisemitism and identity-based hate.
- Monitor emerging trends, incidents, and community needs.
- Develop initiatives that strengthen cross-community alliances and resilience against hate and discrimination.
Advocacy & Public Affairs:
- Support advocacy efforts related to antisemitism prevention, Holocaust education, and school and community policies.
- Engage with educators, civic leaders, elected officials, and other stakeholders to advance effective policies and practices.
- Develop talking points, educational resources, and community-facing guidance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, history, Jewish studies, social sciences, or a related field.
- Significant experience in education, facilitation, community engagement, or program leadership.
- Strong knowledge of antisemitism, Jewish history, and diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage effectively across diverse cultural, religious, and political communities.
- Program evaluation and impact measurement.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
