California General Liability Associate (West Coast)

About the Role

Join a civil defense practice as an Associate Attorney handling a full caseload of general liability matters in California. This role offers broad litigation responsibility and a path for professional growth within the practice.

What You'll Do

• Manage general liability defense matters, including premises liability, personal injury, and casualty cases.

• Draft and respond to motions, complaints, and written discovery.

• Take and defend depositions, appear at court hearings, and participate in client meetings.

• Assist with preparation for mediations and trials.

• Manage a substantial caseload independently and meet an annual billing target of approximately 1,950 hours.

What We're Looking For

• Two to eight years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in general liability, premises liability, bodily injury, personal injury, or casualty defense.

• An active California bar license in good standing and a JD from an ABA-approved law school.

• Defense-side law firm experience managing full caseloads, rather than focusing only on motions work.

• Experience managing 25 or more cases at once, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

• Experience with depositions, court appearances, and discovery drafting; mediation or trial experience is valuable.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and LexisNexis.

• No book of business is required.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range is $130,000 to $170,000 USD, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Visa sponsorship is not available.

This is a fully remote role for candidates based in the United States, with Los Angeles, California as the primary location.
