CPI is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team! We are a full-service consultancy and professional services firm specializing in large capital projects (infrastructure, energy, etc). We are headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, but our team is fully remote.
Job Summary: The Business Systems Analyst plays a key role spanning workflow analysis and AI engineering execution, translating business processes into practical, well-architected technical solutions. This role maps intake workflows, structures validation rulesets, and builds and integrates AI-enabled agents into existing form and data ingestion patterns. The ideal candidate is a versatile developer who can move fluidly between process analysis and hands-on technical execution leading workflow mapping, tool ecosystem rationalization, and platform content development while collaborating with other developers, vendors, and Company stakeholders under broad guidelines. The successful candidate will have robust understanding of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 (Office) applications, excellent communication skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and the flexibility to adapt to changing project dynamics. This role demands a professional adept at juggling multiple tasks and navigating project shifts efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Map the intake workflow end-to-end, structuring the validation ruleset that governs how intake requests are processed and reviewed.
- Design, build, troubleshoot, and implement the AI Intake Validation Agent, ensuring reliable and accurate automated validation with project lead.
- Perform a comprehensive tool inventory across the technology ecosystem, evaluating usage, overlap, and gaps. Integrate inventory as required by stakeholders.
- Produce a prioritized rationalization matrix that guides decisions on tool consolidation, retirement, or investment.
- Execute automation opportunities surfaced during tool ecosystem rationalization, translating findings into implemented process improvements.
- Lead development of onboarding content, access checklists, tool primers, and process orientation materials on the SharePoint Hub.
- Support adoption-monitoring instrumentation to track engagement with onboarding content and platform resources.
- Collaborate with other developers, vendors, and Company stakeholders to develop proof of concepts, interface designs, and workflow architecture.
- Work with technical leads and stakeholders to clarify requirements, scope work, and align technical decisions with project priorities.
- Create and maintain documentation of workflows, validation logic, code, architecture decisions, and technical dependencies.
- Identify and troubleshoot defects, process breakdowns, and integration challenges across workflows and applications.
- Communicate progress, blockers, technical findings, and tradeoffs clearly to team members, stakeholders, and project leadership.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflow design, automation, and delivery efficiency.

Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience spanning workflow analysis, process design, and application or automation development.
- Demonstrated successful performance of lead responsibility for specific tasks, including the ability to work under broad guidelines or lead ad-hoc teams.
- Proven experience mapping business workflows and translating them into structured validation rules and technical solutions.
- Hands-on experience building or integrating AI agents into operational workflows.
- Experience instrumenting audit trails and reporting layers to defined standards.
- Experience conducting tool inventories and producing prioritized rationalization recommendations across a technology ecosystem.
- Experience building and leading content on SharePoint, including onboarding materials, checklists, and process orientation resources.
- Ability to own assigned technical workstreams with minimal oversight, including requirements clarification, build execution, validation, documentation, and handoff.
- Ability to communicate technical information, findings, limitations, risks, and recommendations clearly in writing and verbally.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with SmartSheet development, including forms, automation rules, and workflow configuration.
- Familiarity with generative AI (GenAI), AI agent frameworks, prompt engineering, or LLM-based tool integration.
- Experience with SharePoint development, including site structure, content templates, navigation, and permissions.
- Experience with Power Automate and the broader Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Copilot Studio), or similar low-code/no-code automation tools.
- Exposure to API design and integration.
- Experience building adoption or engagement dashboards using tools such as Power BI.
- Energy or infrastructure domain knowledge.

- Salary: $110,000-$130,000+ depending upon qualifications and experience
