Role Overview

The Pharmacy Analytics Senior Consultant role reports into VP Finance Pharmacy and is responsible for leading the development of enterprise pharmacy reporting infrastructure, foundational data assets, and actionable analytical insights across all lines of business. This role is primarily focused on building and scaling reporting layers that do not currently exist, including Medicare Part D datasets derived from PDE (Prescription Drug Event) and MMR (Membership) data sources. The position ensures accurate construction of core metrics (PMPM, scripts, utilization per 1,000, cost per script) through curated, validated datasets. The Consultant/Sr Consultant will analyze pharmacy trends to identify cost drivers and develop actionable savings opportunities while partnering with various matrix partners.

  • This is a 100% Remote position but we prefer you live in EST or CST time zones

Responsibilities

  • Build & Maintain Pharmacy Data Infrastructure:  Design and maintain foundational pharmacy data assets, including PDE and MMR based datasets, enabling accurate and consistent reporting across LOBs.  Develop scalable SQL/Python data pipelines and standardized data models with clear documentation and governance
  • Develop Standardized Reporting & KPI Monitoring:  Develop and automate standardized pharmacy reporting and dashboards (e.g., PMPM, utilization, cost metrics) to support actuarial, finance, and operational stakeholders.  Establish and maintain consistent KPI definitions and scalable reporting solutions using BI tools
  • Pharmacy Trend Analysis & Cost Driver Identification:  Analyze pharmacy data to identify key utilization and cost drivers, including mix shifts, unit cost changes, and cohort-level impacts.  Quantify savings opportunities and translate insights into actionable recommendations for business and clinical stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Support & Strategic Insights:  Partner with Actuarial, Pricing, and Analytics teams to support forecasting, rate development, and strategic initiatives.  Provide data-driven insights and reporting to guide decision-making and align pharmacy analytics with enterprise objectives
  • Data Validation, Governance & Ad Hoc Analysis:  Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across reporting outputs. Maintain data governance standards and support ad hoc analyses for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Medicare/Medicaid pharmacy analytics
  • Advanced SQL, Python, Databricks, BI tools
  • Strong healthcare claims knowledge, pharmacy preferred
  • Power BI/Tableau, Excel
  • Experience building reporting layers and pipelines
