Blood and Marrow Transplant Research Registry (CIBMTR)

HIA is seeking an experienced Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Research Registry Specialist to support the collection, abstraction, management, and submission of transplant data to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR). The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with blood and marrow transplant programs and oncology-related registries.
This is a remote subcontractor (1099) position requiring a high level of independence, organization, and commitment to data quality and compliance. Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Abstract, collect, and submit blood and marrow transplant data in accordance with CIBMTR guidelines and reporting requirements
Review patient medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with registry standards
Perform data entry and maintain timely submission of required forms and follow-up documentation
Ensure compliance with federal, state, institutional, and CIBMTR reporting regulations
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information at all times
Communicate effectively with transplant program staff, physicians, and internal team members regarding missing or incomplete data
Participate in internal and external quality assurance reviews and audits
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely reporting requirements are met
Remotely access electronic medical records and registry systems as required
Maintain current knowledge of CIBMTR reporting guidelines, forms, and data definitions
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of current Blood and Marrow Transplant Registry experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training
Understanding of medical terminology required
Experience working with CIBMTR reporting and FormsNet preferred
Strong understanding of oncology, hematology, and transplant terminology
Experience abstracting clinical data from electronic medical records
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex medical information
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web-based systems, and remote technologies
Preferred Credentials:
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) preferred
RN, RHIA, RHIT, LPN, or other clinical background preferred
Oncology or transplant program experience strongly preferred
General Requirements:
Reliable high-speed internet connection
Must have a secure personal computer suitable for remote work
Ability to consistently dedicate scheduled hours weekly
Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills
May require background check and drug screening depending on facility requirements
