We are seeking Bahasa Indonesia Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Indonesian is a priority Southeast Asian language, widely spoken in Indonesia and by diaspora communities, often required in asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Bahasa Indonesia ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, legal, and administrative settings.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, healthcare, or government preferred).
- Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
