Back End Engineer

Job Summary

We're looking for a Back End Engineer with strong experience building and operating backend
systems across Ruby on Rails and Python/Django stacks, designing GraphQL and REST APIs,
managing PostgreSQL and Redis, and integrating complex third-party services. The ideal
candidate is also comfortable with modern deployment and CI/CD workflows, including GitHub
Actions, AWS, Vercel, Docker, and multi-repository Git workflows

Qualifications:

• Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal (C1 level Minimum).
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude, eager to work with others and solve problems.
  • Strong experience with Ruby on Rails 7, including GraphQL-first API design with graphql-ruby,
  Devise + JWT authentication, Sidekiq/sidekiq-cron background jobs, and
  interactor/service-object patterns.
  • Strong experience with Python/Django 5, including Django REST Framework, Celery +
  celery-beat, pytest, and uv tooling.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL across both Ruby on Rails and Django stacks, as well as Redis
  for caching and queues.
  • Strong understanding of API design using both GraphQL and REST/OpenAPI, including
  drf-spectacular/Swagger.
  • Experience with authentication and security technologies including JWT, Knox token
  authentication, Google OAuth, and TOTP 2FA.
  • Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and comfort migrating existing AWS CodeBuild or
  GitLab CI pipelines to GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with AWS fundamentals, including Docker-based deployments, ECS/CodeBuild, S3,
  and IAM basics.
  • Experience deploying and operating Next.js/Nuxt applications on Vercel.
  • Experience using Docker and docker-compose for local development environments.
  • Experience with Git multi-repository workflows, including environments with mirrored GitLab
  and GitHub repositories.
  • Experience with substantial third-party integrations, including payment, pharmacy/EHR,
  communications, and inbound webhook systems

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop backend APIs and services using Ruby on Rails 7 and Python/Django 5.
  • Build and maintain GraphQL-first APIs using graphql-ruby and REST/OpenAPI APIs using
  Django REST Framework.
  • Develop and maintain background processing systems using Sidekiq/sidekiq-cron and
  Celery/celery-beat.
  • Design and maintain PostgreSQL databases and Redis-based caching and queue systems.
  • Implement and maintain authentication and security workflows, including JWT, Knox token
  authentication, Google OAuth, and TOTP 2FA.
  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party services, including Stripe, Authorize.net,
  DoseSpot, Elation, PerfectRx, Twilio SMS, Customer.io, Intercom, and Mailgun.
  • Develop robust inbound webhook processing for third-party integrations.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including migrating existing AWS
  CodeBuild and GitLab CI pipelines when needed.
  • Support Docker-based deployments and AWS infrastructure involving ECS/CodeBuild, S3, and
  IAM.
  • Deploy and operate Next.js/Nuxt applications using Vercel.
  • Maintain Docker and docker-compose environments for local development.
  • Work effectively within multi-repository Git workflows, including mirrored GitLab and GitHub
  repositories
