Mind Computing is seeking a fulltime, 100% remote AWS Cloud Engineer to be a part of a team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, reliability, and cost efficiency. This role will support cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, DevOps practices, and application deployments while collaborating closely with development teams to optimize performance, security, and operational efficiency.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure solutions leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB/ALB, EKS, and other AWS-native technologies.
- Develop and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures supporting application environments.
- Provision and manage AWS resources using AWS Management Console, CLI, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployments using DevOps best practices.
- Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network security, logging, monitoring, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor cloud environments for availability, performance, security, and cost optimization while troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues.
- Integrate AWS infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, and application deployments using tools such as GitHub Actions.
- Collaborate with development teams to translate application requirements into secure and efficient cloud-based solutions.
- Support application deployments and releases using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
- Assist with troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues.
- Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
- Strong understanding of AWS core services, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and security.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system administration.
- Strong knowledge of AWS security principles, IAM, encryption, and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with networking concepts including subnetting, routing, load balancing, firewall rules, and VPN connectivity.
- Experience troubleshooting AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based applications.
- Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts and tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development.
- Prior government/federal experience
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Must possess one or more of the following certifications (or an equivalent):
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty
